Ive got to agree with a previous poster about Boden. Although expensive i always shop at the 50% sale time and i normally get two seasons wear for everything my son wears and at hand me down time they are still in great condition. Most of his stuff comes from Boden mized with Next & M&S.

I think most of these posts are just mentioning the cheap clothes that the op has cited as falling part too quickly. I agree that Boden represents a good choice. The clothes are funky enough, but not scaled down adult stuff or that stuff with stupid slogans on, which for boys always seem to make out that the child wearing them is naughty, evil etc.
Boden will easily do two children and then resell on ebay (sometimes for prices so mad I can't understand why they don't just buy it off the web site new). The sale will be a week or two before xmas by past experience, but if you look on the site I think there are a few bits of summer sale left. It's usually possible to find a discount code on this site. Also I think with your first order they invariably send out a code that gives £10 off your next order over £30.0 -

thanks everyone, re Boden funnily enough I have just sent off for a catalogue from their website last night!
I love the look of their womens clothes, and am plannnig to splurge my birthday money on buying myself some new outfits from there. the boys ones not quite so sure but will def. look out for the sales.
I have previously been v unimpressed with the likes of BHS, Adams and Mothercare IMO they cost more than Tesco/Asda but the quality is no better or actually worse sometimes.
What do do people think about Gap? I have had some reasonably priced items in the sale, but it is a bit hit and miss, I have often gone in with money to burn and found nothing I like. also the sizes are often a bit small and so they have grown out of them quickly - buy bigger ones next time Claire - der!0 -

with a few cheaper things eg pants / socks / pjs from matalan, tesco, primark, peacocks

Kate, where do the handmedowns come from and do they look any good or are they all knackered?0 -
What about La Redoute and Vertbaudet (someone did mention this earlier). Any views?0

I like BHS, and Marks for quality. Sports soccer is good too. I recently got 15 yr old son Nike Air trainers, at 70% off. £30 instead of £100!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

A few observations that seem generally in keeping with other posters- M&S (especially jackets and underwear) and Next usually wash and wear well enough to be handed down. Do also buy at Asda which I generally find to be better quality than Tesco but not so good as first two. Personally wouldn't waste money at Primark or Matalan although my sister seems to find okay items I cannot abide the queues and poor looking quality.
Currently using up stash of nectar Adams vouchers which are good for school uniform. Don't know if these would be good enough to pass on after use though.
Haven't tried Boden apart from baby clothes and do think like gymboree they are great quality but better style wise for girls than boys. Never really got on with Gap for my two boys just the wrong fit for for both and really they couldn't be more differently shaped so don't know what this says!0 -

I don't know where they were bought but they're all umbro, adidas and nike stuff, they're fabulous condition too as neighbour's sister's son had a growth spurt just after buying them apparently! Hopefully DS won't have a growth spurt for a while!!Kate
