I have to admit I am not that keen on the soap nuts think I need to get one of those wee bags though .... Maybe that might make them a bit better

How do you use them at the moment ? The website I posted the link to said you could use an old sock tied up, seems to work okay.

i use the old sock tied up ... wouldnt say it works ok for me to be honest ... but i think alot of that is to do with the clothes more than anything ... my hubby has a very very dirty job and soap nuts just cant cope with it ...

if i am just freshening things up then they are fine no probelm ... although i also dont get the four washes out of it that your meant to ... i have to change my nuts (oh er mrs) every two washes rather than four

Brita could be the way to go:

I love marketing..."hot water vapour", that'll be that thing we call "steam" then... ;)

In truth, virtually all activated charcoal (i.e. all the ones I've ever heard of) is made like that from nut shells, even down to stuff like the standard issue British Army gas mask filters.

El, forgot to say that Morrisons did sell Simply so have a look there. Simply at one point did offer samples, so might be worth emailing them.

Went with Brita because they specifically said nut shells. They also mentioned a number of non natural sources as sources of activated charcoal.
