Good news on the weight loss and the next consultant appointment. I'm sure you must be so frustrated by now - I've a couple of friends at a similar stage they are getting so impatient with the slow progress.
No one seems to admit that it does take a long while to recover and I do wish they would be realistic and admit that the side effects last for a while. But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
My whole team are super and say it takes roughly 2 years to get over chemo fully...the only people that don't seem to realise is ATOS in trying to force people back to work
DOH..just realised that you meant your friends are getting impatient...that's my post chemo brain...lol...yes it can be frustrating but I just go with the flow now...just listen to my body and it tells me when it's had enough.I'm improving bit by bit and think I'll be a while yet.I did go to my DR a few months ago about my exhaustion and she said what do you expect when they've pumped poison in to every cell in your body and then loads of radiation...don;t be hard on yourself and just walk one lamp post at a time...I did use to feel guilty about everyone doing everything for me as i couldn't do it...but now I try and if I can't manage I ask or don't do it.
The worse thing that happens after treatment is lots of people think because the treatment has finished then the patient should be back to normal and then leave the patient to it when they really still need help. This hasn't happened to me but to many others it has.0 -
Those are wise words Taxi - listening to your body is one of the hardest lessons to learn I think. The weight loss is really fantastic - wish I had your will powerJanuary spends - £587.580

I never used to have will power but my mindset is now completely different... since I became ill everything is different.Hard to explain really.0

Taxi, I'm glad you posted a little bit more about what its really like for you, and *why* it is like it is. I don't know whether its true, and if it is, its certainly not in the same league as what you're going through with chemo and radiation, but I've heard the same sort of thing with big weightloss like yours - that the fat in our bodies stores all sorts of toxins, and that when we're losing it, they're being released into our bloodstream to get flushed away. Which is why people who are dieting are advised to make sure they keep their water intake up. I don't *know* if its true, but it makes sense to me.
Anyway, hope you're still snoozing today.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Great news all round then Taxi,
I truly admire your honesty in telling it 'like it really is' & your attitude towards your own health is surely a great example of how to take care of yourself.
