Am back from garage and they don't have a clue what's up with it !!!!...last night the coolant light came on and DH topped it up and the light went off but the heat in the car was unbelievable even though the blowers weren't on...the garage has had the motors out, tested everything and can't find any faults and even run the engine for an hour to see if it gets too hot in the car but it didn't...so DH will take it out later and see how it gets on...keeping fingers crossed

Ooh Taxi. Just read this now after pmd.
Sorry to hear about the problems with the car. We had massive trouble
starting our diesel car a few years ago. Spent a fortune trying to sort it out. Paid for a diagnostic check from Renault and goodness knows how much we spent changing glow plugs and this and that.
Sometimes it would start first time, others it was a nightmare. This went on for months.
Eventually OH took it to a little independant garage around the corner from his work and was charged £45 in total and it was an electrical fault that he sorted in less than an hour! Would it be worth taking it to someone like this?
Hope it gets sorted quickly. It's an awful feeling when something like this hangs over you especially due to its importance.

He drove tonight and it didn't get as hot as last night so he'll keep an eye on it and take it from there...hopefully it'll sort itself out.
