"If you currently get a discount for paper-free billing, this will stop".

Is one of the terms of the Line Rental saver. By this do we assume what they mean is that the annual charge is what it is and that's for paper free billing. And at the end of 12 months you go back to standard line rental and the paper free billing discount will come back.

Yes - thats what it means. They don't want customers trying to claim the paper free billing discount in addition to the annual line rental option as that is already built into the price..

Would I be right in saying the original base price for Linesaver was £10.99 month, the £9.49 is only an offer price to lure you in, which could mean a considerable increase next year when you renew your Linesaver.

Next year the annual Linesaver price would be likely £11.49 x 12 = £137.88, unless BT make another offer.

I'm basing my sums on this paragraph taken from BT's help section taking into account the 50p increase in october -

The special offer is only available for customers who get the Line Rental Saver offer from 4 July to 29 October. You can't get the discounted special offer if you bought Line Rental Saver between 14 May and 4 July. Our £10.99 pricing is still highly competitive, and cheaper than Virgin, Talk Talk and Sky.

Everyone seems to have lost interest in this topic unfortunately. You can bet that nothing will be as simple as it should be whatever. I think I will be taking up the Line Saver offer in the next two weeks, and then in a years time I will look elsewhere if there is a substantial increase. The only reason I keep a home phone is because I get free broadband from Orange. Having to pay for something I don't use leaves a very nasty taste in the mouth. (especially when you then have to remember to make two calls a month as well).

    - Or -

Do they mean "your paper-free billing will stop" and BT will not reinstate it. So while you might be saving this year haha - in 12 months time we'll get £1.50 a month back because you signed away your rights to the paper free billing incentive.

The detail is always in the smallprint!

A very good question as it is possible you may not get the discount back, see:

However on the bright side not having a paperless discount as part of the offer is also good. It cannot be removed during the offer as for example Virgin customers has recently been notified of.

In taking the offer I would want to think about if there was an exit plan at the end of the offer - does any contract period tie in with the end of the offer or if not what will the cancellation charges be.
