You cant have Line Rental Saver on the BT Weekend Plan unless you have BT Broadband.

"Who can get Line Rental Saver?

You qualify for Line Rental Saver if you have paper-free billing and one of the following products:
    • Unlimited Anytime Plan
    • Unlimited Evening and Weekend Plan
    • Any package of products, such as phone and broadband "

That's what I thought when I read the above. However I'm on the Unlimited Weekend Plan, no BT Broadband, do have paper-free billing, but yet the BT website still let me order Line Rental Saver for £113.88. Now I suppose it might be that they have made a mistake, in which case I'm sure I'll be able to argue about that. However all I can say right now is I have ordered LRS with just Unlimited Weekend Plan.

The onlyt way the website would let me take up the offer was to transfer calls back to BT.

That has just happened to me.

Didn't realise that by ordering Line Rental Saver from BT, my calls would be switched back to BT. I only saw this in the confirmation email. I stayed on the (basic) unlimited weekend plan, too.

So today, my calls provider (HIVE) ist writing to me "sorry you are leaving us". They also mention that I can call them to stay with them if I didn't mean to leave them.

I don't know if I should just call HIVE and tell them that I want to stay with them or if I also need to contact BT to cancel the whole line saver thing.

    Any ideas?

You could always move your Line Rental to Hive to get their cheaper line rental.

So what do you think will happen if I tell HIVE to stay my calls provider without contactin BT?

And who says I cannot switch my calls away from BT again?
  • Update: called BT this weekend.
I had to call three times because yesterday morning "the computer system was down" so my cancellation for Line Rental Saver could not be processed and in the afternoon the system was still down. They did confirm thought that I would be able to cancel the whole thing before the 12th of August though.

Today they told me that Line Rental Saver was non-refundable and there was no cooling off period either as it took immediate effect when I ordered it six days ago. However, the call transfer back to BT could be cancelled on my request. I was warned though that not doing two calls a month would incur a £1.50 charge every month (which I already knew) and that my calls provider might block access to the 1280 prefix (which I doubt).

I have been doing my two BT calls a month via the prefix anyways to keep my caller display free of charge.

From section 8.9 of Hives T&C:
If your receive our telephone Services, we reserve the right to restrict your access to other Networks and route all telephone calls through our Network. This includes calls dialled commencing with the prefix 1 (including for example the prefixes 132 and 1280).

  • Well, this poster had already written that it's possible to use the 1280 prefix:

Been a customer since 1999 and am happy with the savings made so far. I've always been able to use the 1280, I looked on their website and couldn't see the information to confirm (no idea what WLCI means so I could just be looking in the wrong place!)....

But it'd be nice to make them aware of section 8.9 in that thread.

I read the blurb online and it seems to me that BT will be better off if I change, at the moment I get £1.50 off for online bills, that will stop and if I don't use bt for at least 2 calls a month (i use talk talk for all my calls so wont use that at all) they add £1.50 to my bill that to me means save £24 but loose £36 ie 2 x £1.50 x 12 does any one else think this?
