C'mon. I asked for the emails, not for a long post outlining your reasons.

I do a little bit of stuff on ebay. 250 feedback no bad feedback. If one person slags me off - so what -it is no big deal. Even M and S will get one person out of 250 slagging them off!

You are making things far worse. Trust me. Within the next few days loads of blokes and blokesses will come to this site and see what you are doing and undercut you.

You have a nice little number. Lots of power to your elbow.

FWIW, I think the seller was very reasonable up to a point and well done for being so enterprising. Unfortunately, threatening legal action must be the stupidest thing they could have done as they have lost all credibility.

Oh, and dare i mention it again. Make sure you are registered as a business..with so many people viewing your auctions you will now be on the ebay radar and no doubt some people will have reported you.

However I echo the others, leave it. Spending thousands on a court case is pointless and infantile and I can't see that you will achieve anything at all. Load more stuff quickly and get the neg knocked off the first page. So much cheaper and easier.

are these leaflets produced using public funds?

basically, the buyer acted badly, the seller is acting badly (a atwdry little unregistered business selling on free stuff is not something to be proud of, no matter if other people are doing it) and then trying to bully somebody with the threat of legal action.

get over it seller, register yourself as a business and start acting professionally

Goodness me, all this cause of some feedback... I think people need to get a life and realise it is only feedback. It is not life threatening.

Surprised that ebay not registered it automatically as a business account by now.

Seems from sellers ME page this activity is a shop-window for a potentially lucative bsuiness.

Personally I think its a good idea- but
    1. should be registered as business with Ebay ( and HMRC if not already)
    2. Should not charge for free leaflets if these are paid via public funds ( not saying illegal- just maybe not right)- although yes people may be prepared to pay for them by post if the original providers don't offer this service ( I remember getting loads of stuff sent me free from Orlando Tourist Board)

However Why not charge for your own printed / emailed guide - and include the "FREE maps" as free .

This could possibly have avoided the feedback issue.

You now still seem upset with the revised neg.. well the comments are toned down, but person still not happy - so unfortunately go with it

Remember feedback for a business is good - actually bad feedback is potentially the best if you want to improve.... learn from it, don't react in that way, and accept you can't please everybody all the time

"dishonest" feedback was likely wrong for the actual transaction, but it is dishonest if one minute you claim its not a business, but then it obviously is...
contridication ... who would you sue for loss UNLESS you are a business.

Soolin is right, whether or not you consider yourself a business, you clearly are so need to register as such.

I understand how upset you are, I once got a negative from an American buyer who wouldn't pay for airmail and left a neg when he hadn't received his item by surface after two weeks !

These things happen and you have to realise that there will always be some buyers that you just can't please. Take the negative on the chin and move on.

I wouldn't have left a neg as the buyer did, however if I had & received your emails, I would not have revised it but followed up with, seller threatening court action over my opinion. You saying that you weren't threatening merely telling her what you intended to do, still came across as threatening to me, in a rather over the top way. Far better to have responded to the neg in a similar way to the other seller, and then move on, the buyer would have been the one looking a plonker.

I would have totally ignored your emails, except perhaps to print them off to have a giggle over.
I think that you have in actual fact done far more damage to your business that isn't a business. (Although you clearly stated in the emails that she had damaged your business) IMHO making money each month, unless it's your own stuff you no longer use, means you have a business, as such you should be paying tax, registered with ebay as a business & HMRC as self-employed.
You say that you only do it to help out others & save them money, also to keep your family, if things are so tough you need a secondary income, don't forget if you're claiming tax credits or any other income based benefit, you have been overpaid & can possibly be charged with fraud.
I know that other people are also selling the same as you, but is it something that you are legally allowed to sell? If not you could find yourself in hot water.

    Hi everyone

just wanted to clarify a couple of things here, these maps are not printed using public money, they are retail priced items produced privately and sold at various places all around London. I do not know where the suggestion they are public funded items came from but it is completely untrue. Any extra items sent together with the map(s) such as the London Tube map are always sent FREE and are sent to make the item more useful for the buyer as the postage cost is the same.

Also I think this discussion has moved away from the original point here. I want to know how many of you would not feel upset if someone they did nothing wrong to had labeled them publicly a 'con' and 'dishonest'. I don't know how some of you seem to say they would just accept it and move on, why accept insults like that?

And if you are on the receiving end of such comment the general feeling is that you should get in touch with the buyer and ask them nicely to remove the feedback, which I did. However no reply was ever received. I then sent the request for feedback revision to her which has a 10 day time limit. Again no reply at all from the buyer and with the deadline loomin, no revision either, the con & dishonest seller was still on. I allowed a whole week and only with 2-3 days to go I sent the next email which was written the way it was because I was simply trying to get a response, any response, just to start a conversation. And unlike what you have been led to believe by the buyer, this email was not sent after she amended the comments, it was before and I was seriously worried she would just ignore my polite asking and allow the time limit to lapse therefore leaving the con/dishonest seller comments on my profile. Another inaccuracy is that she started the thread saying she paid £3 for her item which is also untrue she paid just £1.49, you can all verify that by looking at the item 300435823068 (sorry I am not allowed to post links).

I've had a similar issue before with someone thinking they bought an A to Z and again I just couldn't get the buyer to reply until a quite strong email was sent. After that I got a reply which is not fit to be published however I was happy as it was a reply. And it started a dialogue which ended up with me and the buyer getting on so well that we agreed to meet and share a pint in the pub when they came to London.

So a lot can be achieved by dialogue but all I've had so far is a monologue... mine! I still to this day have not received a single message from the buyer. Nothing.

Regarding the issue of these being available elsewere for free, it is true that they are given out complementary or as 'sweeteners' or promotions, for example hotelnet and superbreak offer a map free with every booking. As I am considered a new user here I am not allowed to post links but please go to the hotelnet . co . uk and superbreak . com websites and see for yourselves that they also confirm that these items retail at £3.95 each. Also they are not available 'everywhere' and other mse members have commented already that they are frequent London visitors but never came across these. Some hotels in London also choose to provide them free to their guests. Which as a moneysaver I applaud. But as I said before not everyone stays in a hotel and not everyone books a hotel so they can get it for free.
