Cant seem to find it either. I guess the OP got it removed as it was possible to identify their ebay account from it. As I think they had already been added to everyones blocked bidders list it was a bit too late0

In fairness, I think that the deal that the guy offers is quite reasonable for a couple of quid.
Many peeps (believe it or not) do not know about MSE and the money-off vouchers and for this alone it was worth the money.
I have just bought a book from an Ebay seller. It was 99 pence and I had to pay £2.75 postage. what a scam!!!!!!!!!! My local library will let me have this book to read completely FREE!!!! And as long as I renew the book I can keep it indefinitely.
Should I leave REALLY BAD FEEDBACK for this SCAMMER?"If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools"

Hi everyone,
I am the ebay seller ajpcy who's emails you have all seen apparently yesterday after the buyer started a discussion about the negative feedback they left for me.
I would like to thank all the mse members and eBayers who took the time to email me yesterday to let me know what was going on. Unfortunately i did not have the chance to see the original thread as by the time i got in yesterday evening it had disappeared. I have emailed everyone who contacted me to thank them and asked for a bit more info of what was said and from the replies I got it seems most people agreed that the buyer was being unreasonable at best for behaving the way they did.
From the replies I got it seems that the buyer did not make it clear to all you guys that they have never replied to a single emails that i sent her, nor of course had the courtesy of letting me know she was unhappy with something before staining my feedback record with her insults about being a con and a dishonest seller. And this came after I even posted the items to her by 1st class post when she only paid for 2nd class just to ensure she gets them on time as she sent me a note on the day she bought it that she was travelling to London 3 days later. You have all seen the thank you I got for my trouble.
I started selling these maps and putting together London 'infopacks' as I call them a couple of years ago. My work is tourism related and I see tens of people daily who arrive in London not knowing that there are many ways to save money on their sightseeing, attractions etc and these maps offer a good deal as not only they allow my buyers to save money, they get them in advance which helps them plan ahead. After all it's no real help finding out you could have saved 20% at the London Zoo for example after you arrive in London if you have already bought the tickets online as most of us do these days.
I am mainly selling these as i think they are very very useful for anyone visiting London and as you've all seen from my eBay profile almost 1500 people who left positive feedback agree. I am not becoming super-rich selling these, If I was out to con people I'd probably do it to make a bit more money that I do selling these. As you have seen this buyer paid £1.49 for the map. After taking out 10p for eBay's commission, 25p for paypal's fees, 41p for the 1st class stamp and 5p for the envelope I made the amazing amount of 68p profit from this sale and for that I had to spend my time sourcing the maps and stationary materials and deal with the sales and posting the items.
It is not just her fault however, it is also lovely eBays fault who seem to be treating all of us sellers as nothing. No voice, no right to defend ourselves when accussed, no right to prove our innocence... we are all guilty without trial. I have lobbied ebay following a similar case a few months ago where another lady decided I was a con and should receive negative because she could have downloaded the tube map online for free and printed it at home! Even after pointing out that the tube map was included FREE for her convenience with her item she still thought I was a cheat... people's thinking really drives you insane sometimes doesn't it. Thankfully the feedback was removed back then but as you've all seen the problem remains and once again i find my self in the dock out of not fault of my own. I have repeatedly contacted eBay asked them to consider changing the feedback system to force these buyers to contact the seller first and allow us a few days to respond before the buyer is allowed to leave negative feedback. I cannot believe they haven't thought of that themselves as it makes perfect sense for them too to try to iron out these problems as negative feedbacks scare away buyers and therefore dent their profits too. If they had forced this lady to contact me beforehand we wouldn't have been in this situation now. I would like to know what you think about this too. I also want to hear from you what you think about the way I conducted myself throughout this, you have all seen my emails to her.
Thank you all again for taking time to reply.0 -

I read through your emails you sent to her, and sided with you right up until the point where you started to go on about legal action, and then to be honest you came across as a pr*ck!!! It was WAY over the top!
Personally I would have just emailed her apologising that she didn't realise the maps were free once she got to London, then refunding her all minus the postage, and asking nicely if she'd consider revising her feedback. She probably would have then changed it to a positive! You also have the option of responding to the feedback.
Although her initial neg was not warranted and a nasty, I do kind of see her point that it was annoying finding out that the map was actually a freebie once you get there! As it's a service you're offering i.e. sending the map to a person's door, along with other info, then perhaps you ought to make it clear that the maps are handed out free? Otherwise I'm sure you will get some people that feel a bit miffed or perhaps ripped off, even if it is just a small amount.
Also, I believe it was commented on that you should be registered as a business seller, as you are making money from this, even though it's just a small amount.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Thanks for that, I'm afraid with this buyer not responding to any of my emails I contacted eBay and they said the only way they would consider removing the neg is if i had a court order so if this is the only way I can get this removed this is the way to go. I would be a pr*ck if i did that without informing her and giving her a chance to put things right first (a chance she never gave me).I read through your emails you sent to her, and sided with you right up until the point where you started to go on about legal action, and then to be honest you came across as a pr*ck!!! As for your suggestion of refunding etc, that would never be an issue, had she contacted me! I have not received a single reply to any of the emails I sent to her and she certainly did not get in touch before labelling me a con and dishonest in front of everyone. With regards to the maps being available free at some places, this is true. It is also true however that many many shops, travel information kiosks and souvenir places sell them at their full retail price of £3.95, one being the tourist kiosk next to the London Eye for example. Appreciate your feedback though, thank you, and I hope you are never on the receiving end of such comments from anyone.0 -
From my angle, the buyer looked as if she had got out of the wrong side of the bed. She had left two negatives within a short time, I think someone said it was less than 2 minutes apart. One was yours and another was for a brown handbag which she said wasn't brown. The photo certainly looked brown and the seller of that item replied to the feedback along the lines of 'what part of brown wasn't it brown'. In defence of the buyer, she did say the item was copper. Copper is a type of brown in my book, but not in hers.
From the info given on here by the buyer, your emails did sound a little dramatic. They started well but then the threat of court action was OTT. Whether you defend that as you say above or not, I can only go on what I recall was written on here. It is not certainly a way I would conduct my retort to someone who is clearly not functioning on all cylinders.
Despite all this, the thread did go a way into the ethics of what you were selling. IMHO the fact you obtained it for free is neither here nor there. The buyer did not have to buy the item but you offer a service is selling/delivering the item for a fee. I am quite sure that not all of your purchasers use the item in London, perhaps they just buy it as a momento or planner etc. So, the item was for sale, she bought it and 'negged' because she later found it for free. There is no justification in her negative comment, certainly the first one was bordering on being close to policy infringements in so much as it was defamatory. The second was not, but still unjust in my view.
Perhaps if you find yourself in this situation again, take that deep breath, write the email but send it to yourself. Read it and cut it down by half, removing the emotion. I don't say that in any way to be condescending, just as some advise that may have helped the situation at the time. For what it's worth, I think the buyer was on the verge of working out how she could remove the negative following the comments on here, but as I understand it, she cannot as it was previously revised.
Perhaps away from here, you may see if it is worth striking up contact with her, but if you do and she doesn't reply, then leave it as that.0 -
Aionas,
I am with you all the way - see my rather flippant post above about a book.
BUT the onlywayisup makes some valid points. Chill, mate. Don't go over the top. If any of us could afford court actions for libel and defamation etc, we would not be on a money saving site.
I know two wrongs don't make a right but firing at the person with all barrels will not solve a simple problem.

I totally agree with the only way is up. The buyer was going over the top. But your emails threatening court action made you look rather ridiculous. As TOWIU said next time take a deep breath before you reply. You can get better responses from people if your polite rather than making ridiculous threats.0
