Am I a miserable old...

I recently installed Windows 7 on my last Vista machine (which has been languishing for months as I couldn't be bothered to use it with the abysmal Vista).
Transparency got turned off virtually immediately.
After hours of annoyance while working on something that required several windows open together I've finally got around to looking up how to disable the (to me) annoying automatic resizing of windows with Windows 7 (called Aero snap apparently).
I've given up trying to find where Windows 7 on another machine has squirrelled away the config files for my FTP program so I can just copy them across to the new one and reentered all the settings again.
Am I just getting too old and set in my ways or do others find every "improvement" from Redmond is a PITA and a really big PITA if it can't be reversed. How about the control panel - I still valiantly persevering with the new almost impossible to navigate layout rather than switching it back to the (imo) superior 10 year old layout of earlier releases.
For those wondering - I got out of the right hand side of my bed

I think we all get set in our ways and find change difficult to embrace. Just like going into a Supermarket and finding they have moved things around :-)
I am with you on control panel. I always go back to classic view.:T:T:T:T:T:T:T0 -
Oh and the aero snap. I hated it for a while but now I love it and use it very frequently. Give i time and it will grow on you.:T:T:T:T:T:T:T0

+1 for the control panel and i still prefer add and remove programs to be named just that, not uninstall software or whatever its now called.
cant honestly say ive had a problem with snap... then again im on a netbook so i need as much screen space as possible anyway lol0 -

wasnt that what tile horizontally/vertically was introduced for?
i found that extremely useful and yet, hardly anyone uses it. they much rather throw windows half off the screen so they can see whats underneath0 -
kb - you, a miserable old anything??? never
you're not alone in thinking that every "improvement" is quite the opposite...let's face it, half of vista was dumbed-down from XP to make it "easier" for the non-techie masses, even if it caused a PITA for techie-types 'coz they'd hidden all the bits you needed to get to to fix the bloody things ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

does anyone use the godmode folder in 7?
wow you get a list of everything you can change in your pc... oooh try finding anything you want in that long list0 -
Thanks for the post KB, it is hands on posts like these that are truly helpful to me, I have XP, I tried Vista, that was a disaster, I am considering 7, but I do like to hear of the downsides to it.
I will stick with XP in light of your post.;)0 -

I have never used windows beyond XP and I doubt I will touch Vista. If 7 is dumbed down from XP, it must be dire. I think dumbing down is retrograde - users do need to face up to some concepts.
But I am happy with Linux.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
