Off to get the sticky...............................Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Saturday 24th July. 2010. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
[*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just fine.

Good Morning All

Have been up a while this morning, 1 load of washing done & another going in, just about to empty the dw & wipe down the kitchen.

DD is volunteering at our local library & today is her first day, unfortunately she has woken up with a sore throat & no voice  have dosed her up & will send her off with throat lozenges.

DS has footie training this morning & I will get on with the ironing. Have a mental list of to do jobs for OH which I will write down in a minute for him :rotfl:sure he will love that when he gets up.

Other than that no plans for today, not sure what the weather is doing will check the forcast in a mo.

Lasagne for dinner tonight, have a great day & (((hugs))) wherever needed.x

Morning Essex and all who follow:)

Haribo - have a lovely birthday :bdaycake: Hope the sun shines for you.

I woke early this morning so marched the dogs round the park in the morning sun. Squirrels out so had to keep tight hold of young dog's lead. We also saw a fox - quite a distance from us but it just sat and looked at us very calmly.

Came back and did 20 mins yoga and muscle exercises on the wii. I do some most mornings now and am beginning to see the benefits (a bit!).

Have to return some library books today including one which I kept renewing but have run our of renewals. It's the Soil Association Grown in Britain Cookbook. I like the way it has lists of ideas as well as full recipes.

Sauturday tea here is always a bowl of arabiatta so that's nice and easy.

Planning a nice walk this afternoon with DH and dogs, either along by the sea or up the hill:).

Hope you all have a good day. (((hugs))) to those unwell, sad or worried, also to those MIA.

    Good Morning Everyone.
I have woken up with an elephant sitting on top of my head, or it could be a really awful headache, but coming on here has cheered me up already. Had some good news yesterday, I received an interim payment from the third parties insurance company so that has got me out of my overdraft. Also finally managed to get out of my gym contract, so glad that stress is over they had me in tears twice!

My Godmother took me out yesterday. We checked out this amazing charity shop near me. Even though it is only small it has great stuff in it. I bought the first Harry Potter book for a £1, so pleased as I leant my copy to a friend years ago and when I have asked for it back she says I never leant it to her, I hate it when that happens. I also got another book for a £1. Really reasonable prices I think as some charity shops charge £3 for their books now, which can be more expensive than buying them new, anyone else noticed this?

I also bought a really cute little handbag, this was new from a little hangbag boutique that is attached to a garden centre. As far as today is concerend I don't really want to make any plans until this headache goes.

Have a good day OSers x
Hmmm will add up debt and stick on on later!

:bdaycake:Happy Birthday Haribo, I must say you are looking good for your age :T:D

    Morning all,

Bright and beautiful day here,I got fed up of waiting for OH to get up and make the tea, so had to do it myself :rotfl:, he is normally up really early at the weekend, so I missed my cuppa in bed.

First of three loads in the wm, all dd's uniform will be done including her blazer, then it can go up for september and I know its all done. Will all be hung out today as its so nice.

OH did the mis coat on the newly plastered walls last night, so today we can crack on and get a proper coat on them.

Tonight I think we are off to my sisters, she had invited us for tea last week, but due to the low carbing its a bit difficult, we shall go for drinks instead.

I have lost 13lb in total now :T I am very pleased, I think I have 6 or 7 lb to go, although I do agree with Donny, breakfast is getting really boring, I would love the muffin recipe too, I did look through the link that Gers put up, but the thread is so big, I could not see it. Also what about some fish for breakfast ? Kippers maybe ?? or those off cuts of smoked salmon with scrambled eggs would be nice.

Chicken legs for tea tonight, we ended up having burgers last night, so chicken with salad and new spuds.

Ok better get on, have good days all xx

Marie, if its today you are going away, have a great time xx

    Good Morning from achey Glasgow.

My body knows I was working yesterday, that's for sure! I wonder how many calories I burned doing all that? :D Off out to cut the grass shortly, the Salvation Army were here at 8.15am, and my kitchen looks bare, I won't be putting the new table up til the wallpaper is up though, so that's an incentive to get a move on. We can eat outside if its dry, or on our laps. :o

Delighted to hear your good news Jellybaby, that must be a relief, and I agree with you about CS books, too expensive, I usually go Bookcrossing for my books or raid the school/church fairs.

EssexGirlhope your daughter is Ok, and enjoys her day.

wmf we love arrabiata in this house, send some over if you make too much! :D

Happy Birthday Haribo, hope you have a fabulous day today, :D:):D

Plan for the day is grass, washing hung out, shop for another bit of wicker trellis stuff to finish CatPatrol proofing the fence, collect a lovely light I reserved in Homebase, Aldi for F&Veg (or maybe Lidl),Mr T for chicken for the dog, and back home to bake my lovely boys some muffins. They aren't on a diet so they need a wee treat. I will freeze the rest. Lunch today is the last of the horrible soup I made during the week(shudder) and dinner is Fajitas which is our Saturday night tea of choice. I will be making Guacamole and salad etc to go with it. Oops no table. Hmm I'll think of something, maybe just do it like a buffet on the work surfaces..

Hugs to all who are down or in need. Celyn, are you lurking too? If so, come let us know how you are, please. Hope PenPin and Diva and Ladygrim are all doing OK, too.

Hope you all have a lovely day. :D

    Morning All

Two days off and DH isn't working either so it'll be good to spend some time together. Need to meal plan and shop (as little as possible - nearly payday!) Mainly need fridge stuff and some thing for lunches during the week.

DS2 appears to be back to normal - gave us quite a scare but fingers crossed thats him ok. Just sit patiently and wait for the next crisis to hit :)

Did some ribs in the slow cooker last night and very tempted to eat them for breakfast! but took some bacon and buns out of the freezer last night so that will do instead once everyone's up.

Dinner will be something with chicken breasts as they are defrosted too.

    Enjoy your weekend x

    morning everyone,

Dry here today but plans up the wall as DS1 is lying on the couch with a towel and a bowel - he feels sick. not needed 2 days before we go away, DS2 is whinney cos he wants to go to nannnys as planned and i suspect he is jealous as DS1 getting attention!

Have made some crispy cakes to take on holiday nd when the eggs arrive in tomorrows shoping we can make fairy cakes.

Bathroom cleaned but thats about it!

JellyBaby I agree charity shop books have gone really expensive, think some are out pricing themselves.

Off to sort the washing and hopefully finish brushing the floor!

    Take care everyone xx

    Redruby, I found this http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/lowcarb-recipe-help-suggestions/399261-cream-cheese-muffins.html
    and this http://pinchmysalt.com/2008/01/27/low-carb-muffins-an-egg-xcellent-idea/
Those were the only two I could find. I had hoped they might be of use to me, but I need something more low fat. HTH

Well done on the weight loss - you've done really well there.

For the egg muffins it's just (for a 6 tin deep muffin tin) 6 eggs, some pre-cooked bacon and a touch of double cream. You can add anything else you like, I found that tomatoes make the muffins watery. Anyway, whisk up the eggs and herbs/cheese/whatever, cut up the bacon into small pieces and stick some in the muffin tin. Pour the egg mixture over the top and cook for about 15 - 20 mins until all is set.

These freeze really well. I take one out each morning before showering and it's normally ready to eat in about 15 mins. Perfect for a lunch box too.

Mmm... might make some today after all that!
