Th organisation I work in is a local government org. I am in the IT dept and know that they pay a yearly fee to get MS products eg Office 2010, windows 7 etc...
I know for a fact that IT staff have been taking the products and using them external out of the org for thier own personal pc and family members is this against the law? Is this stealing?
Can anyone shed any light on this?
The Yanks have what they call PTA's, like the song Harper Valley PTA.
Management in the UK use the same acronym but it reads Protect Thine Arass.
If you are the responsible line manager for these VLK's then report it up to your line boss, in writing and get a written copy back signed by him / her. Thats your Arass Protected. Then go back to sleep - its not your problem [ even off-site licence's ] its your boss's !Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. - that'll do it - about as much English on an English web site as is needed !
Translating into English didn't make any more sense :rotfl:0 -
from my experience the companies usualy pay per licence at a reduced rate. this means that they could offer it at a reduced cost to the staff who then could take a copy home etc as they technically paid for it.... i have used a works copy of office on my personal laptop (which usually came into work with me) my boss said it was ok to as the licence allows office to be installed on two pc's and i used my laptop for work stuff anyway.0
