I did try to reply but lost my post.
basically the habit of the month is designed to improve the way you work, and by practicing one habit all month, and then taking on board the next one the following month, you build up a routine.
I've found some habits, like make your bed, and drink up your water quite patronising.
However, daily swish and swipe, laundry load a day, and now this month, deal with piles of paperwork 15 minutes a day, have been quite profound for me. Now, i get the post when the postman arrives. Open it all, pay bills, check internet banking, shred personal documents, file important stuff and recycle the rest straight away. Laundry, i tend to sort a load while DH is in the bathroom in the morning or evening, and waiting for him to come back out.
Basically, your routine has got to suit your lifestyle. Mine is different now i'm at home on maternity leave compared to when i was at work a few weeks ago.
Glad to hear you clean your sinkSeriously, it may not shine, but it makes a difference if it isn't covered in old bubbles, bits of old food, or stacked with plates.

Hi, all! Initially I found the FL e-mails baffling. My house needed to be freed from the clutter before I could do anything else. Now that I've done that (to an extent
) I like the daily zone e-mail especially.
The ones I've enjoyed have been "sofa diving", clearing your make-up bag and clearing the paper from your fridge. It's small things, but they're beginning to make a difference.
The one I find most patronising is "lace your shoes". Everyone removes shoes in this house, and if I choose to go barefoot in my own home, it's up to me.
We've just spent a lovely nostalgic half hour going through our record collection that's been in the loft. We're going to try and recycle (or charity shop) most of it, but have kept a couple, and will have the album covers framed. The children are dying to hear the Spitting Image Album
Thanks again to you all; you're a real help to me! I was able to have people round at the weekend and be proud of my home (even though it's not yet perfect) rather than fretting about the mess.
You all are doing great things!

Hi all,
Haven' done a thing all weekend, had a 10k run on sunday and couldn't do anything then and still feeling the affects, walking like john wayne is a good way of describing things, and torn muscles in my abdomen. anyhow my stores frozen fresh food has done for dinner today. but my house looks like a dump. How do you all manage when you physically cannot do much at all?

I feel trying to fly with the group very motivating.
Everyday I try to keep up with the laundry, DW, emails, post, taking out the recycling and the rubbish and preparing for the next day. To this I'm gradually trying to regain control of the house not always making good progress but well intentioned but finding out everbody elses sucesses and failures makes me realise that I'm not alone with this massive task of managing a home. Hey Baileys Babe - no thank you! I've kind of adopted your daily list and mega list approach.
Hi Carli - congrats on 10K run. Try a few small jobs that will make a big difference but require little effort. Perhaps clearing the sides in the kitchen or similar.

Pen-pen - i forgot the lace up your shoes one. I can't get any shoes on at the moment, so that one is out the window for me. (swollen ankles.) :rotfl: I fully agree that as an adult, if you choose not to bring the outside dirt and pollutants into your home, then that is a sensible one. The japanese do this, and are fanatical about cleanliness. Heck, this can even cause extra problems for allergy sufferers, and just causes more work.
Anyway, my plans for the day, slightly scuppered because the fridge packed up, and we spent hours looking for the receipt (sent hubbie to buy it and he hasn't put it away properly). We only bought the thing last november. DH has to keep all his receipts from being self employed, so you can imagine how many we looked through, none of them in any logical order, and now all left on my coffee table this morning. Long term flying is to get the daft bu99er organised. Luckily we could borrow my dads beer fridge, which will fit in the basics for now, but the earliest we could get a repair guy in is next wednesday, which isn't much good one week before my due date.
HO -hum. Not my week again.
Anyway - plans:
1) finish off 7F scheme for school
2) start 8C scheme for school
3) [STRIKE]visit my friend and her month old baby - take some cards with me from work[/STRIKE]
4) DH to phone shop we bought fridge from to see if they can help
5) load 2 computer programmes onto the home computer so that the disks can go back to school when someone visits me after baby.
6) do last nights washing up - this one is really starting to annoy me
7) [STRIKE]drop some stuff off at charity shop[/STRIKE]
8) [STRIKE]pop into supermarket for more basic fridge bits[/STRIKE]
9) tidy up school stuff
a) from dining room table so i have space to work
b) another load from the office (15 minutes)
10) do some of cross stitch - at least half an hour as none got done yesterday.
Motivation low and mess still high. Grand master to do list is down to 121 items from 318 though. :T
Just finishing my cup of go-go juice, and then i will be making a start.
Michelle, x
FLC mission for the day is to wipe down the surfaces/benches in your kitchen. One bit at a time, by lifting the stuff, and wiping underneath it, and then putting that back and moving along. - DONT take everything off.0
