Afternoon. Been out and done all I need to and now have 2 hours until the school run but don't feel motivated. We are off on hols soon and I hate packing, a friend said do it early and that is a good idea but I'm not actually doing it and knowing that I should be and I'm not is stopping me doing anything else if that makes sense. I'll report back if I do anything.

    hope that helps flyboy. :D

    Thanks Michelle.:T

I ought to read the website, but found that there was TMI:eek:

Doing what i can for now and will pick up other bits like that as I go

Is that the right way? or should I 'get with the programme' and be doing things like zones?

Dread to think what else lies in wait for me...... :rotfl:

Hi TNG I'm not getting with the program yet. I have read bits on the site and picked up lots of tips. I really like the shine your sink bit and earlier when I felt like doing nothing that is what I did and low and behold I cleanned the whole kitchen whilst out there!

    Have done
2 WM loads and put on line
Finished sorting 2 boxes by my desk

Going to do internet bits now before school

    Still to do today

    Swish and swipe
    ironing
christmas card list to take on holiday
    holiday list
    soak my feet.

Do what suits you TNG. I don't do it all. I do get the emails, and mostly i will delete them as i don't find them all relevant.

I sometimes find if i can't be bothered to do anywhere or i'm completely lacking in motivation, then i look what the weeks zone is, and i think, well i could just clear the dining room table/wipe the fridge out/clean the cooker top.

So it can be helpful, but if you already have your own routine then its probably not worth signing up. Just ask us what the weeks zone is.

I personally find the habit of the month much easier to try and take on board. This month is deal with paper clutter, and as i am trying to deal with finishing off paper work before the baby arrives, and dismantling the home office, it is making it a bit easier for me.

    Blimey!

*Hmmm - what's this...... Heinz Worms....... anyone got a can opener?*
    Do what suits you TNG.

I understand that, but I guess I'm asking (in my own special halfassed way) is 'is it better to understand about zones and whatever else' i.e. does it make the other bits easier, or am I happy enough in ignorance

Is that 'your' habit of the month, or the site's? I think moggins should include this kind of thing in her initial post

    habit of the month
zone and zone challenge for the week (for those that want to)

I really like the shine your sink bit

    our sink doesn't shine

    Hi Guys

TNG - like Michelle and Dusty I have found picking up the daily habits FLYlady encourages has really helped such as Shine Your Sink, Swish & Swipe, Laundry Wash a Day, Empty Dishwasher, Paperwork etc.

Once you are doing these almost automatically you can build on them and start to focus on the 'zones' (brilliantly explained by Michelle). Alternatively I find if I'm feeling really overwhelmed or the entire house is a tip that 15 mins in each room (I do use a timer!!) can make a real difference.

I used to get bogged down with cleaning one room thoroughly in one day but then things like washing, ironing, the bathroom etc were neglected and got too much. Using and adapting FLYlady tasks can really help.

As TNG suggests, perhaps we should start a monthly FLYlady thread reminding people of the habit of the month with daily links to the website for info on which zone/task is being done that day?

Just got back from a great holiday myself Dusty I hate packing and also unpacking/washing/ironing after holiday. Having tried to FLY quite hard before our holiday meant that the house was lovely and tidy/clean when I returned and the unpacking wasn't such a chore.

    - what's your sink make of maybe we can help get it shinning for you.

Just got to the bottom of the to do pile on my desk for the first time in so long and it feels great. Going to make a list of what I need to pack/do now to try to focus me.

    Awww shucks! thanks Punky.

Its not that i can't get it to shine, its that it doesn't. It's new and it's a kind of white plastic with a matt finish (i.e. no shine)

I guess a good clean would have it metaphorically shining :D (I have been doing that btw, I don't leave my sink rammy!)
