I've been having a read of this, and found the flylady website. I like the idea of baby steps like keeping the sink shiny just by drying it off.

I've been keeping house for about 12 years now and although I do keep on top of things, its not as nice as I would like.

Somtimes I stress and somtimes I have a glass of wine instead :D

Anyway, I've oftern devised various routeens such as leaving a duster hidden around each room and picking it up when I'm in there togive the room a once over. But thats not really worked :o

At the moment I'm trying to do one room a day and thats not going to badly. But don't seem to manage to fit it in on ironing days

I get home at 3.00pm if supermarket / library / ebay - post office trip isn't needed. Cook dinner for about 5.00pm. Try to fit in allotment Mon/Tues/Wed nights for an hour and an hour at the weekend. (Mind you I won't have that problem during dark nights :D

So what happens if you don't manage to get everything done on your list? and if you end up transfering stuff everyday to next days list?

Then it gets put on to the list for the next day?

Bathroom now cleaned, window cleaned, windowsill dusted, mirrors cleaned, sink cleaned, undersink unit cleaned (DH leaves hairs on it everytime he shaves :( ) Tiles wiped down soap holder cleaned, taps polished and bath cleaned.

2 more boxes have gone down into the cellar and the microwave box is finally collapsed and put out by the bin, just need to run the hoover around the ground floor and I am ready to head off to my hair appointment.

  • Hi all hope nobody has been eating jam straight out of the jar for a sugar fix:D

    Honestly dustykitten, as if!?!

Catznine - the emails haven't started as the site is geared to US time (not sure which exact time zone) so when they wake up the emails start hitting your inbox...they remind you to start dinner at about 3.00 pm or something ridiculous, but of course it'd be the right time over there. I must admit the emails killed it for me in the end.

My done list for today is embarrassingly short. In fact I'm so ashamed I'm not telling. Must get my rear in gear and get a boogie on.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    So far have:-

    1) Washed up and cleaned and shined my sink

    2) Cleared and cleaned worktops

    3) Vacumned kitchen floor ready for the stardrops treatment

rested with the timer on and a hm smoothie for energy.

    4) Washed kitchen and utility floor using stardrops (also the conservatory)

    5) Dealt with the hot spot (dining table)

    6) Done a wash load (used some of my bold free sample - it smells lovely!)

    7) Had lunch! and some time on MSE

    Left to do:-

27 fling (plenty of clutter here so should be easy) Must dig out my rolling stones cd for that!

Bake cookies (need to do a double batch as lovely neighbours the other side have just knocked with a bag of my favourite little tomatoes)

5 min room rescue (got to be the bedroom, still got some unpacking to do! )

Pick up a parcel from the post office.

Really feel I am achieving something today!

    My wishlist for tomorrow too:

    1. A general tidy round
    2. Clean the bathroom
    3. Tidy the kids bedroom, sort out drawers and wardrobe, charity, freecycle, ebay any outgrown stuff.
    4. Sort out the black hole, otherwise known as the hall cupboard. Need to be RUTHLESS awith this, as it's full of clutter Done 6 years of paperwork chucked
why was it in storage anyway:confused:
    5. The undersink cupboard needs a sort out, again RUTHLESS.

If I manage all this it will be a flippin' miracle, But a list to kickstart me will help.

Oh and tip of the day. Next time you are at tesco, grab one of those cardboard wine carriers, with the separate sections in. Great for flying round the house with your cleaning items in the little sections.:D

So far today I have managed the hall cupboard, argued with the council tax dept (they seem to think I owe them money:confused: ) taken two kittens to the vets.

The rest of the house other than the hallway looks truely awful ATM, but i will not give in:p :p . I will probably start on the kitchen cupboards tomorrow.

I love this, it's really given me the kick up the @rse that I needed to start sorting out the house.

    Thanks to one and all

    Ok. Progress so far:

    Today
(washing up by hand today, as not enough for d/w)
    [STRIKE]washing on line[/STRIKE]
    dust & vac lounge/ [STRIKE]conservatory/ hall[/STRIKE]
    wash kitchen floor
    [STRIKE]clean fridge[/STRIKE]
    ironing
    put away washing -[STRIKE] yesterday's[/STRIKE] & today's

BUT - got bogged down in the hall, cos I decided to go through the shoe rack & sort out what was there. Now I have binned 1 pair, found 2 pairs to go in the charity bin & relocated hardly used pairs to bedrooms..... except that the bottom of DHs wardrobe is full of clutter, so have emptied that out...
    ...
.........and now have photo albums, shoes and other stuff all over the place. Oh, and I found some jumpers & other mens clothes in there (almost new) from DS1, which I have bagged up to be sent to a centre for the homeless - so have that in the living room too...

I think the place looked better before I started!!!!:o
