Do check that your travel insurance covers your paragliding. I think that sometimes you have to list it for an extra payment.

I am looking at this website which has been mentioned twice now but it really does seem too cheap to be true, has anyone actually been on any of their excursions? I mean, £2 for a turkish bath including transfers does seem a little unreal!

    Thank you!

Thank you all so much for all the information. I was delighted to hear that younger children can paraglide too as my 11 year old would like to do it too, do they go tandem with a, instructor or in three with me too?

No - children go with their own tandem pilot. Sky Sports had really nice ones that chatted to my boys and made them feel at ease.
Becles, we will certainly be paying for the photos/dvd and I hope I allowed to take my compact camera up too!
Yes, you can take your own camera as well. I had a jumpsuit with a secure pocket that he told me to put the camera in for take off, but I was able to get it back out once we were flying.

Can anyone recommend places to stay in Oludeniz please? (sorry to highjack this thread)...

We stayed at the Alize hotel. I've been there twice! The food is beautiful and the hotel is spotlessly clean. Really enjoyed it.

If you go with a reputable company, they insure you for the jump. I had to fill in some paperwork before we did it, and they had insurance certificates on the wall and a policy document to read through.
Becles, can children have turkish baths too?

Yes - all ages can have one. My daughter had one this year and she's 3! She didn't get scrubbed though and just got covered in foam and played in the bubbles instead! My boys are 13 and 11, and they got scrubbed and massaged.

Not used them myself but they get loads of good write ups on trip advisor.

Turkish bath price in the resort is around £8-£10, but the other companies also offer them discounted or free if you book other trips with them.

I have booked the sunset cruise, aquapark and turkish baths through Carole & Tayfun. I was going to book the paragliding too but I don't think the cost (£59pp) includes a dvd/photos and I really want those. Becles, can you remember what you paid with Sky Sports? Thank you

I think it was around £50 each, plus another £10 for photo's but I'm not 100% sure on that! It was in 2008 when we did it.

Here's Sky Sports website, but I can't get it to load here so you might have to try a bit later.

  • Hi
Ive just returned from Olu Deniz on Friday, my family is out there for another 4 weeks. - I have been going every year for 7 years now (my family has an apartment in Fethiye)
I have done the paragliding, her age is not a problem - its is approx £50 - you may get it a little cheaper than that by haggling (lots of companies along the beach offering it), but thats the ballpart. It is a great experience! Try and do it so she is coming down nearer sunset time (around 8.30pm ish - bear in mind the time it takes to get up Babadag and get kitted out up there.)
    For other trips:
Fethiye Market on a Tuesday morning is FAB - dont pay for a compnay to take you its a rip off! the Dolmush to Fethiye from Olu Deniz (public mini bus) is 4 Lira (not even £2) goes from the end of the beach strip next to Crusoes club, they will stop right outside the market if you tell them that is where you want to go.
There is a water park in Ovicek it has about 5 big slides and there is an entry fee (25 lira pp last year although this may have risen) Its a good different day out, food is expensive and not too great - chips burgers - if you are used to spanish or UK/US waterparks it may be a let down.
The 12 Islands boat trip is a MUST! we travel with Carole & Tayfun boat tours every year (from Fethiye Harbour) its £9 pp if you book online, including lunch & transfers from your hotel (great if you are staying in Olu Deniz) although you may want to remind them to pick you up the day before your trip as Turks never write anything down and we have been forgotten a couple of times - not just by this company - although we do stay in a residential area.
Buzz Beach bar is my favourite restaurant in Olu Deniz, great food and cocktails - sit upstairs (you might have to book)
I hope this helps, and you enjoy your holiday - be careful in the sun and take a high factor - its was reportedly 47 degrees last week when I was there - set to be hotter in August!

The bath & the oil massage after are always priced separately, my guess is the bath is cheap almost free & they will get the money with the massage. If you don't get the massage you will probably get a crap bath.
Belcekiz Beach hotel in Olu, near the Sun City (in front of it) does wonderful baths for £10 (ish) & £10 (ish) massage.
Thats where I go. Go the minute you get there, before you do any sunbathing.

The Jeep Safari is wonderful (there is a seller there called Gorgeous George he's very good).

There is a shop near The Belcekiz Beach run by "Spice boy", worth getting a few bits & pieces to bring back.

Fethyie Market (Tuesday I think) is WELL worth doing. Hisaronu market might float your boat too, if you like that sort of thing.

Hisaronu is a few miles inland from Olu & you can get a bus (Dolmus) there cheaply, Fethyie is again another few miles on from there.

There was a restaurant called the White Dolphin which was wonderful (a must do), but he's closed it & turned it into a boutique Hotel

& reopened a bigger restaurant on an island he's bought off Fethyie (he has a few boat to get customers across) next time I'm in Olu I will visit.

If you like boat trips they do a 12 Islands cruise its cheap & cheerful, but I don't have sea legs.

This is some info on Kizilada Island Restaurant

While you are in Olu you can drop into the Oyster Residence (same owners) to book the Kizilada Island Restaurant

i KNOW gORGEOUS gEORGE TOO! :rotfl:lol
They are soo funny! The Turks make me chuckle at Fethiye market, 'cheaper than Primark' 'Cheaper than Asda' ' Genuine Fake!' :T
