Parking Fine in Morrisons Car Park!

Hi All,

I've just been to do my weekly shop at Morrisons and when I came back to my car I have a ticket! The man who gave me it was hovering around when I arrived, I didn't think anything of it though.

The reason stated is 'exceeded free maximum stay time' I didn't know there was one and I was only in the shop for around 35 minutes!

I've read lots of threads stating do not pay, my husband is away at the moment and I am a worrier. The ticket states if I pay in 14 days, the fine is half price? It states if I don't pay, an order for payment through the courts will be applied for. How will they get me contact details to send me any more info?

How do they know if was even me driving? The car is registered under my husbands name, so how can they prove who had parked the car?

Sorry for so many questions, but I'm worried and upset. :(

P.S The company is CP Plus Limited based in London.

If you've read the threads, as you say, you'd know the answer to all of your questions several times over.

    Ignore it.

    Just IGNORE it :)
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

If you do decide to fight rather than pay or ignore, go through Morrisons. In their Leeds (one of the most expensive places to park in the UK) city centre car park you get half an hour free for ten pound spent in store, so providing you spent more than a tenner you are well within what the store sees as reasonable shopping time.

I spent over 90.00 today, I'm pretty sure it will be the last time I do though, as apparently your only allowed 30 mins max to do your weekly shop, after that you get a fine.

    It's not a fine.

Are you sure you have read any of the other threads?

    Just ignore it.

Yes I have read a couple, but i do worry alot, and getting a ticket stuck on your car for the first time isn't pleasant. I just wondered if this specific company are likely to take this further, send horrible letters. etc.

I haven't seen a answers to my other question though about who they will try to take to court, my husband I assume, he isn't even in the country. Just out of interest, how do they get the details of the registered keeper?

Usually 3 or 4, ignore them all, they may seem scary to the uninitiated, but they're just empty threats

I haven't seen a answers to my other question though about who they will try to take to court,

If they did it would be your husband, but trust me they won't

From the DVLA (costs them £2.50)

The DVLA gives out people's personal information for 2.50. I assume you mean names, address etc. How is that right?? What about data protection? I'm gobsmacked!!!
