As all TV Licence payers are consumers, do you think that I should complain to Watchdog over this??
Today we are investigating the BBC over their blatant disregard for the laws they claim to stand by..Total Debt at start of challenge : ££26563.92

Have a look at this site and see if anyone on their form can help, as your friend has admitted the offence and given a written statement it is likely that they will proscecute, unless you cause as much of a stink as possible. If your friend does get summonsed make sure they turn in court to defend themself especially as she has a witness.

Just be glad that we do not live in a Police State.:rolleyes:Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

The BBC would investigate your complaint, as the "TV Licencing" gestapo is nothing to do with them. It collects the money for HM gov, then shares it out amongst themselves, gov and then gives BBC what gov decides.
The licence has always been a form of a stealth tax, set up as a "Wireless Telegraphy Act" tax, a bit like Road Tax, but now mainly used to fund and thereby hold gov reigns on BBC. It was originally run by the GPO (General Post Office) later BT, hence being in Bristol and owes ( IMHO) its nastiness to similarity to VAT / Customs.ac's lovechild0 -
I am a little confused are tv licenses for 12 months or 11? or do they run by month regardless of what date you buy them.

If it is the first warning, they won't do anything anyway!
At Uni, some friends got busted and the first time they just got a warning. They got a licence sharpish after that!!
Not that I am saying what the TV licensing did was right, excuse my language but the person who did this sounds like a right ba**ard!!!
Let us know how you get on, this behaviour is a disgrace!!!

This sort of story just makes me want to cry. Alriight if we are going to be ulter zero tolerance on these sort of 'crimes' then so be it on real crimes like burglary, drug dealing, etc. But we know that will never happen. Because it is too hard....and they cannot be bothered...they would rather tackle licence 'cheats' instead:mad:0 -
A TV licence will last for one year from the first day of the month of issue.
A good tip for new students starting uni this month is to try and purchase a licence on the 1st October. You can then claim back the minimum 3 months worth of unexpired fees next year for July, August and September 2007 provided you are not going to be remaining at your student residence during the summer.
Totally agree that the TV licence system of payment calculations is a rip off.0
