you could still save 1/2 month mortgage by setting completion date 2 weeks after exchange, it really is quite common, could pay for a few bottles of champagne when you do move in!0

Friday 13th August
Just noticed that the £200 taken by Britannia has just come out of my account, it's only taken all week DOH
Still waiting for the quote they said they would send out 2 days ago, and i guess my Solicitor would also have not received the go ahead yet.
Why does it take days for anyone in this country to press a button on a keyboard LOL
The money in my Regular saver had finished it's full year today, so tried loggin into the Halifax account to transfer it out as now it was no longer earning interest, it would let me go so far but at the end it would say transfers were not allowed for this account, so i tried ringing them, 18 mins later they told me it had to be in the account for 24 hours before it was transferable, so it looks like someone gets to keep my money for 6 days now before i can get my hands on it, 2 days for the weekend, 1 day while holding it for ransom, and 3 days where it vanishes into a black hole.0 -
14th August
I managed to setup a money movement from my Halifax Regular saver today for it to be moved Monday.
I also recieved what they call a quote from Britannia today, It says
I am pleased to inform you that your application has been agreed subject to all references and documents being satisfactory.
It read like an agreement in principle which we now had nearly a month ago:mad: subject to what checks i wonder, as we have just spend 2 weeks undegoing checks.0 -
Monday 16th August
Busy day today.
I rang my Solicitor this afternoon, he acknowledged he had the quote from Britannia and said we can come over and sign the Contract, we also arranged for the 10% deposit to be CHAPS transferred to him, COOP said they couldn't do the transfer as it was after 3pm so they will do it first thing tomorrow.
I also just arranged house insurance to start for tomorrow as this has to be in place for exchange of contracts, which is happening tomorrow morning.
The only thing that could hold it up now is how long it takes for Britannia to get the money to the Solicitors.
Completion we decided to aim for next Wednesday but on the basis that if the money is with the solicitor by Friday we can complete then.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow morning.0 -
Tuesday 17th August 15:51
We have not completed yet still waiting for this CHAPS to transfer the money, tried ringing COOP a couple of times and they assure me it's setup.
Britannia had contacted my Solicitor and said they can get the money to him for Friday but it may be late Friday, in that case we would end up Completing on Monday.
Still got fingers crossed for Friday, i still have one more CHAPS to make yet with the rest of my Deposit hopefully on Wednesday, but i am not sure i can take the pressure much more LOL of these super fast payments that take forever :mad:0 -
The Exchange of contracts didnt happen today, the COOP screwed up the CHAPS transfer, i was assured 3 times it would be ok, but when i rang at 5:00 pm to say the money is still in my account, the women said it failed because you cant do a CHAPS transfer from a branch , i need to fax the CHAPS with the details to them DOH
They have waived the 25.00 pound fee and mark it urgent for tomorrow, all i need to do is find someone with a fax machine first thing in the morning.
Now if the property falls through tomorrow morning can i take COOP to the cleaners0 -

Thanks for your support Blackshirtuk.
I have a few places to try, library, post office.
I was not quiet right in my last post, in fact they can do CHAPS in a coop bank branch but only up to 10,000 pounds, there were 3 people in the branch, and she did check with head office as well while we were setting it up.
I did also ring head office and they said they would need a fax but they thought it was different in store, i should have pressed her to make sure.
The money from my Regular saver arrived today from the Monday transfer from Halifax, so the plan today is to get the first transfer to my Solicitor and then ring him to check it's ok to transfer the big chunk ready for a possible Friday Completion0 -
Wednesday 18th August
Well the CHAPS went through ok this morning, and i had confirmation the exchange of contracts went smoothly
I have just sent another CHAPS for the remainder of the money ready for completion on Friday or Monday, this depends now on when the money arrives from Britannia, if it's early enough Friday we complete.
So it has been 4 weeks 2 Days from offer excepted to Exchange of contracts.:D0 -
