What is it with this 'I must get the teachers an end of term/year present'!!! It really gets my goat - they're just doing their job the same as anyone else. As far as I'm concerned the best gift is the pleasure of my son's company every day

My kids made their teachers some chocolates. Well, I say made but after pinching an idea from this site, they basically melt chocolate bars (under Mummy-vision), pour them into smaller moulds and decorate them. Then they make pretty cards or labels to attach to the bags.
Their teachers loved them and it cost me less then a few pounds.0 -
Well I am afraid I don't like all this buying present malarky either. Wasn't necessary when I was at school (gosh I sound like my mum!!!)
What my son and mindee did was make cards, drew a picture, wrote their names inside the card and I filled in the rest (they are at nursery so limited writing skills LOL!). I think that's more than adequate and a bit personal perhaps???I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

OK, OK, I'm a bad mummy. I left it til the last minute (actually I didn't even think about it until one of the other mums asked me what i was getting
).
DS teacher is a muslim so booze is out. I'd have thought teachers got sick of chocs and soaps - I know there are lots of you on here so can I have some ideas please! I'm going to get DS to make a card too.
Also do you give cards etc to the TAs? Seems a raw deal for them not to get anything when they work just as hard for much less money!
All ideas gratefully received. I know there was a thread about this last year but I can't find it, sorry if repeating.
How about a nice hand made card (made by your child, not you!) and a sincere thank you from you.0 -
Working in a pre-school with, where most of the children leave at 3 or 3 and a half I do get a few presents at the end of term which I do appreciate but I also find slightly embarressing as like others say I am only doing what I am paid for. However I do get really touched my a nice card with a few kind words of what the children have enjoyed about their time with us. A nice thankyou and goodbye from the parents on the way out is more than enough!0

My Daughter wrote her teacher a card which said how much she had learnt and enjoyed in her 'litracy' lessons, which really made me and the teacher laugh.
We also bought said teacher a box filled up with whiteboard pens (only cheap ones on 3 for 2 in Mr T's) as the teacher had a problem all year with them going missing and running out. The teacher was really pleased and said she had been bragging about her present in the staff room.MFW Start Sep 07 £79484, Now £587740 -
Well I'm going to get my boy's teacher some flowers. I wouldn't normally, but she's heading off on maternity leave now, so she prob deserves a treat.0
