Dysons, are they break more than Miele?

Options
We are after a new vac as our vax is used solely now for clering debris
in the house refit. We have a large ever shedding happy lab and asked some friends who owns dogs what is the best overall vac that can do dog and general dirty polypropylene carpets?

I saw some good deals on Dysons in our Tesco the other day, however everyone told me to get a Miele as hey last far longer, is this true?

Yes. You do not see Cleaners'r'Us with rows of replacement brightly coloured plastic bits for Miele.

And Miele offer a 10 year guarantee for £30 on some cleaners. I'm not usually a fan of extended warranties, but that looks like a good'un.

  • Check out SEBO as well, just replaced ours after 14 years, and even back then it had automatic height adjustment. Go from the lounge to the kitchen and it lowers itself down - don't even have press a button.

They are also very popular with commercial cleaning companies.
Unless it is damaged or discontinued - ignore any discount of over 25%
  • Word of warning, plaster dust is the worst thing for making hoovers die.

So would recommend getting something cheap as chips for the refit, then get your nice hoover for when work is done on the house.

As I read your post the new vac will not be used for cleaning debris? We have found Dyson to be very reliable, after many years use it has never broken down.

Dyson have a very good after sales service! When our washing machine broke after four years, we arranged a Dyson engineer £60 fixed rate call out / repair charge. He carried out the repair .......... for free.

Dyson, miele, sebo...all overpriced IMHO. Sure the quality might be better than other cheaper vacs. You could buy a few cheap vacs for the price of some of these brands that extort?

We have a bagless Electrolux upright (equivalent to a dyson really) that i think we paid about £70-80 for. It's now on it's fourth year..we've replaced filters and belts as you would have to with any other vacuum cleaner but no other problems. And we have a dog that sheds alot of fine short fur - not a problem. It's also dealt with brick, plaster and block dust, wood dust etc (does block one of the washable filters a bit quick though!) and still lived to tell the tale.

Dyson = overpriced hype and no better than other bagless vacs for half the price. Quality not that great..do a forum search to see.
Miele = overpriced cashing in on a brand and longer guarantee. I can't see any reason to justify paying so much for a vac! I'll probably be firebombed by the miele-fan-club now but so be it as this is a money saving forum!!
Sebo = overpriced and overkill for a home - for commercial premises/royal palaces etc fair enough ..my late nan & grandad fell victim to a door-to-door salesman for one of these. Was sold as none of family wanted it!

My miele cat and dog is a godsend and the extra guarantee also includes a pack of replacement bags that cost nearly the same as the guarantee making the 10 year guarantee nearly free!

pack of bags for £30 isn't exactly a bargain is it? Money in the bin literally?! I suspect the bags properly cost a few pence to make! Though to be fair all brands cash in on accessories. I've stopped buying branded stuff for our vacuum cleaner ..plenty of non-branded HEPA filters and belts available for ours on ebay!

    Hi

If you look on Miele's website you will see that a set of 4 bags and filters is £10. You might think this is a lot of money for just some bags, but have you actually seen the latest design of bags from Miele? I am sure if you had and knew the millions of pounds Miele spend on research on bag development alone you would wonder why they aren't 3 or 4 times more expensive!

No other manufacturer in the world takes domestic vacuum cleaners as seriously as Miele!
