Yes she registered with the job section yesterday and applied but there was only about 3 listed but she applied for them. She did ring one and they said to bring in her CV in on Saturday. I did try to encourage her to try applying to all the usual places, Woolworths, WHSmiths, etc but she hasnt yet.

Another girl in the house has got a transfer to Debenhams in York so I think she is hoping that a job will drift in her direction through her :rotfl:

I mentioned Christmas and summer jobs as well, how soon you have to apply for these. You can imagine the result

I worked at a bookshop when I was a student in London. They were always looking for new staff... and I got 30% off all books :D

Market research! It is so easy to get a job with them. If you just google market research and your area, something should come up. And they usually pay a bit better than shops, up to 7 pounds per hour. Flexible working hours, shift work and weekly pay... It's an ideal student job... Taylor Nelson Sofres are near Liverpool Street, they recruit very regularly.

Are market researchers self emplyed, ie have to do a tax return each year, sort their own NI payments etc?

No not at all. You are employed by the market research company and your tax gets deducted from your paycheque. But you can choose how many hours you want to do each week. They might have a rule though that says you have to do a minimum of 3 shifts a week. I can only recommend it, it got me through my university years no problem (and I didn't have a student loan nor parent support)...

Just came back from Tottenham Court Road - loads of shops have ads in the window for staff, including a few of the electronics shops, Cargo and Habitat...
