Drinking water/gym question

Hello
A local gym is selling food and drinks, and is now stating that you can no longer take in your own water to drink while training. They only want you to buy your water from them, they are not offering it for free.
Are they allowed to do this? I thought they had to supply drinking water for free?
Any answers greatfully received!

How would they stop you? Other than checking your bag for a pre-filled water bottle each time you enter?
Or are you saying that they are selling bottles of water in the gym and anyone seen drinking from anything other than one of these will be breaking the rules?
I'd cancel my membership and tell them to fu*k off personally.

In your position, I would take my own in. Particularly if you are mid contract. What can they do to stop you? If they don't like it, I suppose the worst they could do is kick you out of membership. Not that gyms ever let anyone leave membership.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Yes, this is what the gym is saying, I am not a member, this is on behalf of a friend, when I have been a gym member previously water was always provided by the gym "for free" so to speak.0 -
I would have thought (opinion only) that them either not supplying water FOC or allowing customers to bring their own would be in breach of some health and safety? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

Yes, without a doubt - then you can sue them for compensation - breach of your "Human Rights" maybe ??

22. You must not consume any food or drink in a Club that you have bought in from outside the Club.

Virgin do it too in their health clubs according to this.
Personally I'd leave the club, it's a good way for these people to learn not to con their members.0 -
If it's in bottles buy one and then refill it from home.0

If they do pull you up for bringing in and drinking your own water, then what are they going to do? If they ban you or rescind your membership then you're surely be entitled to a full refund of any unused part remaining (since they've changed the conditions), therefore allowing you to go elsewhere without financial loss. This would serve them right.
Obviously, this only applies for existing members; new members would have to conform to the T&Cs at the time they sign up.0
