Funding for 'second' Degree

thats a real shame. someone is willing to educate themselves further and the government try to prevent it. what would you do though when you had got your degree? you would be at retirement age and noone would employ you? well done though for willing to try.
The Government try to prevent it because if everyone was to be funded for whatever qualifications they wanted to do, the cost to government would be astronomical. Student loans, don't forget, are funded by government.
With respect to the original poster, would you want your taxes used to fund a degree for someone who had decided to do it just because they wanted to? In reality, they're unlikely to ever pay back the entire loan and may never use the degree to generate any impact in the wider economy. To simply fund everyone who wanted to do a degree (whether first or second time around) would be financially unsustainable for the Government.
Taiko is correct that they can and do check for fraud so lying about a previous qualification isn't advisable.0 -
Checking fraud is part of my job, and I have caught several over the years. I hate to say this, but students aren't the brightest of people and therefore it makes my job a bit easier.0
