Funding for 'second' Degree

I've been looking to start a degree at 61 which has hit a brick wall with funding.
I've been unemployed for some years am on benefits, but because I have a HNC gained in 69 and a Pass degree at a Polytechnic in 72, I can't get normal funding.
2 questions. If I lied, could they search and find the degree and HNC.
Are there alternative funding

That's not a very moral stance.0 -

Personally, I think the regulation stopping you from getting funding is stupid and unfair. So if you were to "forget" about your earlier education I would have a lot of sympathy for you.
I have no idea whether they could check up and find out, but there is always a chance that you might get caught. Imagine studying with that nagging worry. Imagine going to tutorials and having to remember not to mention that you learnt something when you were a student last time round. If you are anything like me, that worry, and need to remember to keep your mouth shut, would really ruin the whole student experience.
I think that the OU would be a far better option than lying.0 -
Oh, we can check. And if you're found to have made a fraudulent application, action will be taken. Just happened recently, although they take time to unravel.
Not that this student would have got even the maintenance loan anyway.0 -

But you don't get OU funding if you already have a degree either.0
