cold callers

I have on my front door the no cold callers notice printed out from this site. I am 66 and disabled. I answered my door yesterday to a "gent" in a snazzy shirt clutching window security leaflets. I pointed to my sign and got the reply "I'm quite warm thank you" I said I was not interested and went to close my door. "You silly old f*****r" he shouted. "I'll knock on whoevers door I like" I reopened the door and asked him to leave. He again swore at me and when I went to step outside said "come on then if you big enough"
Is it not time these notices were made legally binding to stop idiots like him. Unfortunately I didn't get the name of his company !!

Did any of your neighbours get the name of the company?

Goes to prove how pointless these signs are in deterring the worst sort of cold callers.

I actually know of at least 2 companies who specifically knock on a door if they display these signs :(

Reminds me of many years ago when I delivered freebie papers. A couple on my round had signs saying "no circulars or free papers". They used to get 2 or 3.

Must be silly season this week

I had one yesterday I was just in middle of painting back door

Door bell rang than heavy knock straight after security firm did though

went to door could see his badge 'Southern electric'

I said "No thank you" just about to shut door he said "I am not selling anything". I said "you are, you are trying to get me to change supplier". He looked at me as if I was thick. I again said "no thanks" and shut door

I too have a notice on door from trading standard about cold callers, why cant people respect your views, I dont want change supplier, I dont want double glazing, I dont want betterware/Avon/Kleenzy or whatever just leave me alone

Totaly out of order what that

You think that's bad, I got a new phone line installed yesterday by Virgin and before the installer had even left the phone had rung and I'd 'won a holiday'. Needless to say the line will only be plugged in when I need to make a call!!

I have a door sticker from the Staffordshire police and it seems to work The Old Man, could your local police drop you one round when they're passing, give them a ring and tell them you've had some bother?
That salesman could give somebody a heart attack one day.

    Sorry, but that's quite funny.

The fact that he squared up to you, though, really isn't on.

Those letters you can put on your door about cold callers aren't worth the paper they're written on, to be honest. As previously stated, some cold callers will specifically knock if they see that sign, just to wind you up. It's best to simply shut the door on them.

It makes me wonder what you have to do to stop people bothring you in your own home.
Hoping this year is better than the last. :)
