I have just started using my tumble dryer all year round i used to only use it in winter but the ironing involved after line drying really got to me.

So now practically everything goes in there and i don't iron i fold or hang immediately!!!!

I still have some ironing but only half an hour a weeks worth as opposed to half an hour a day!!!!
I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.

I hardly ever use mine...in winter it gets used if I have load of towels, bedding, jeans. I do love the feel of towels out of the drier but am swayed more by budget than fluffiness! Even in winter I use airers more than tumble drier and in summer I just love clothes outdoors on the line
I don't mind ironing too much...I just do it while I'm watching Emmerdale or Corrie to take my mind of the ironing :)
  • When it's really hot, I do put the washing on the line, mainly because the house gets too hot otherwise!! Most things that get tumble, I don't iron-i take them out when they are still warm ad gie them a bit of a shake and fold them! My MIL had one of those gadgets that measures electricity usage, and she said that the iron actually use more than the tumble dryer, so thats my excuse lol
  • thanks for all the great replys i have a load of washing in the machine think i will try the full load in tumble dryer feel more confident about using it now

We used to have one,but got rid of it to make space for a dishwasher when we moved house 6 years ago. I've not really missed it, even though we now have 2 kids. I.like to line dry when I can, when I can't I use airers. The only thing I find is that towels go a bit hard if you can't tumble dry them now and again.

Twice a day. I put a towel in it for 20 minutes before I have a shower.

We've just bought a clothes airer maid from ebay. You hang your clothes on and hoist it up the ceiling (out of the way) to let it dry. Possibly something to consider?

    Hiya all,

We don't have a tumble dryer at the mo, but my hubby is really keen to buy it because he is very annoyed by clothes drying inside in winter times. I am hesitating, because I hate ironing and when I wash his office shirts on "reduce ironing" mode and hang them carefully - I have to spend just 5 minutes ironing them. Would tymble dryer jam shirt? I was told that it will.
  • most things I air dry but always put them in the tumble with a little homemade tumble drier sheet (just a peice of cloth with scented oil on it!) and a fluffer ball to give them a nice smell and to get the wrinkles out! Works like a treat! :)
  • Have one, never use it. Inherited from previous owners of house, should freecycle it really.
