Anyone got an iPhone Tesco Mobile contract?

Just looked at my bill for this month and it was the standard £20 as per normal. But, for some reason I decided to look at what internet useage I have used, and, shockingly it appears that they have been putting my wifi useage down as mobile internet - meaning that whatever internet I use at home on my iphone is counting towards my 500mb cap!
I phoned customer services today who didn't really have a clue, and just said to call back tomorrow if it was still happening today. So, I turned my 3g to off and will see what happens tonight.
Luckily I didn't go over last month so I wasn't charged, but something clearly isn't quite right. Was just wondering if anyone else had any issues ?

I don't see how Tesco would have any way of knowing what your wireless useage was as this information would only be available from your broadband provider or from the phone itself. I am quite willing to be corrected on this if there are any techies out there who know different. If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

Thanks - so you think there is possibly something on the phone that is actually using 3g over the wifi then ?
I thought I was safe using the phone to my hearts content when at home but obviously not!0 -
No, I think that your phone isn't connecting to the wireless broadband (for whatever reason) and when you think you're using broadband you are actually still using 3G.If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

When you are at home have a look at the phone and look what symbol is next to the carrier name when you are connected to the internet. (In tesco case it will say O2-UK)
3G = 3G Data (out of your mobile data allowance)
E = Edge (out of your mobile data allowance)
o (Circle) = GPRS (out of your mobile data allowance)
But if it looks like a radar sort of symbol with upto 3 lines that is a wifi connection. And you shouldn't be charged.0 -
Turns out that my WiFi bundle was not active on my account. Therefore I had been charged for my data connections from my monthly data allowance. They have rectified this now and after 48 hours it shouldn't be an issue anymore!0

Mine is exactly the same! I also haven't gone over my limit, I just thought it was Tescos way of billing.
I know my wi-fi is on and the bill still shows data 24/7.
I will check it out.0 -
Doesn't the "WiFi" bundle refer to 3rd party WiFi connections that you can use whilst out and about e.g. BT OpenZone ?
Using your own home WiFi shouldn't count towards any WiFi bundle allowances.0 -
I've just been on the phone to customer services, and am now even more confused..
Apparently. (according to him) Any wifi, that I use even at home if it isnt BT openzone will come out of my allowance.
Surely this is not right, I'm waiting for a manager to call me back and clarify this.0 -

So, according to him, you're paying twice for your internet access, even though Tesco/O2 have nothing at all to do with your broadband service? Gotta love those CS reps!If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button
