Yesterday HSBC staff in South Ken told me that the one in Fulham exists, although I haven't had the chance to try it out yet.

When I have asked, HSBC telephone banking don't seem to have access to the list and branches don't know if other branches have it (apart from personal knowledge)...

Thanks, I will probably head to the Charing Cross branch tomorrow. It really is so strange that they don't know, or care to find out...

I just had to call First Direct bank as they had put a block on my account (I could not remember my telephone password yesterday when I callled when I was in the branch yesterday as I've just opened the account and got it confused with my online password - they didn't tell me at the time that I'd be blocked though!).

So I just spoke to someone else who said they knew there was one in Glasgow but didn't know about anywhere else - they simply wouldn't be able to say. I suggested that there was a need for people to know this but they said they had never been asked this, and the inference was that they therefore didn't need to know this...

I'm really surprised with this from First Direct since they are supposed to be so good at customer service. I suggested that if you don't know the answer to something you should find out and maybe put this forward as a suggestion to update everyone with this information when other customers ask... I think I may have eventually got through but I think she thought I was completely barmy for caring so much about cashing in my few coppers!! What can I say, MSE is getting to me (or I am just turning into one of those crochety people)!

One addition - there's a branch of HSBC in the new Westfield centre in Stratford and I saw it has a coin machine.

Hi does anyone know if this list has been updated? I'm particularly looking for a coin machine in the Greater Manchester area. I know the Stockport branch doesn't have one though. Cheers in advance. Valx

Somebody told me there was one in the St Ann's Square branch off Deansgate. I don't bank with HSBC so haven't verified this for myself.

There is definitely one at the HSBC branch on the ground floor of the Lancashire Commercial centre, Caxton Rd, Preston (not open Saturdays). You do have to have a HSBC account to use it.
