It would also be quite sad for someone to claim things that were not true, we are in TOTAL agreement there. But everything I said was 100% true.

I was going to leave it, but I see the lack of an irony font has confused you.

So, just to be clear, I think there is little chance that you have as much as a GCSE in woodwork, much less an honours degree.

And I also have a suspicion that you still live at with your mummy and daddy. Perhaps daddy is the Chartered Surveyor? Or maybe you do some cleaning for one? Either way, I don't believe it's you.

And, evidently, you're no kind of landlord either, as your OP question was akin to a brain surgeon asking the nurse which end the head was!

And, finally, your screen name? Chucknorris? Nah.... WalterMitty.
  • Somehow I suspect that you are not a brain surgeon with two first class honours degrees.

I think that you will find that MOST (granted not all) tend to go straight from their first degree onto a post grad qualification.

I see the irony was wasted even after the edit. Ah well.

I chose Chuck Norris not because I admire him (as you seem to intimate) but because the chess website that I used to play on kept repeating the jokes about him. So to me he is actually a figure of fun rather than some sort of hero figure (see my footer).

Would you like to bet on the number of properties I own and my qualifications? I'm sure if I donate my winnings to a charity of Martins' choice he could arrange verification. Just name the amount and we can both contact Martin, and deposit the money with him, I think I could trust Martin to be honest, are you up for it? If you win (which you won't you can keep the money, if I win I will donate it all to charity). Please come back with a realistic figure (ie not under £1,000 but you can go much higher if you like).

To clarify my wife and I own 9 properties between us, I own 5.5 of that 9 (not all 9 myself) and I have a first class honours degree in quantity surveying graduating in 1990 and achieved my chartered status in 1992.

What an excellent idea. But I see no merit in reducing this to some todger waving wager, let's just use it to establish the truth. Surely, that would be its own reward, don't you agree? Establishing the ownership of these "properties" is straightforward enough and your "membersip" of any professional body will be a matter of record, so easy enough to confirm. Just PM the details and I'll take it from there.
  • To get back on-topic, if your house is anywhere near a hospital, there are rotations of Specialist Trainee, House Officers, and Senior House Officers every 4 or 6 months. August and February for SHOs and ST4-6 and August, December and April for HO's and some SHO's.

The advantage is that they are generally solvent, and want to move on after 6 months.

Another option is Locum Agencies (I now work for one) If you PM me I can send you the PaSA list, which is all the agencies on the NHS national contract. Generally we are happy to pay over the odds for 3 month contracts. You don't HAVE to be super near a hospital, as mental health services are seriously spread out, if you want to let me know what town you are in I can give you an idea of the chances of renting it out that way.

Thanks Paul, always nice to have someone bring in a fresh idea, especially when it's new to me. I live in Dorking, I think the nearest main hospital isn't that far away in Epsom, it's about 7-8 miles away and on the same railway line, just a few stops, although I think the hspital is quite far from the station. That may turn out to be an excellent idea. Would Dorking sound ok for what you are suggesting?

Great I am glad you are open to this, however if I am going to jump through some hoops for you, then you are going to pay for it, if £1,000 is too much, ok lets drop it right down to £100, can you manage that much? You won't win anyway but if you imagine that you might, then you could keep the money. But I want my favourite charity (who I do voluntary work for) to benefit from this, they are called 'Last Chance' and are a dog rescue centre based in Kent. This is the benefit that you can't see, your £100 will help desperate dogs that need help. I do home-checks for them when someone adopts a dog around my area.

Also I am not willing to give my (and certainly not my wife's) property addresses to some unknown person on the internet, but I think this can be solved by showing MY (not my wife's) mortgage account statements for my let properties with the address partially (just the number would suffice) blanked out. It will have to be a copy of the deeds and or solicitor's letters concerning the purchase for my house because there is no mortgage on it (I don't suppose you believe that either).

It would be better if we could do this face to face, then I could collect your £100 donation, do you live anywhere near Dorking? Or perhaps someone that you trust does?

What is strange about this is that you find something so simple so hard to believe, I didn't really thank about that until I mentioned it to my wife and she thought it was very odd as there really isn't anything remarkable about us that makes anything 'unbelievable'.

  • Dorking would be Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Fountation Trust for mental health - too far from a general hospital for a hospital doctor (or most I should say), there is Forensic, Child and Adolescent, and adult mental health in Dorking. Worthwhile calling the Trust main switchboard and asking for "Medical Staffing" surrey don't have much (if any) accommodation available on their own sites.

Med Staffing will be able to either let doctors know that you have accommodation, or they will be sorting out accommodation for their own trainees (when we talk about trainees bear in mind you are a trainee for the first 8 years of your medical career - that is 8 years after your 5 years of medical school!) They may have an accommodation office that does the work. Worthwhile giving them a bell near the time. Things do happen fast though - jobs are not sometimes confirmed until a week or 2 before the rotation.

I'm currently sorting out a rental on a property, I went from rightmove to negotiation, to having my accounts dept send over the paperwork in about 2 hours today. No one has looked at the property.
