Do you get a 3G signal outside of your house? If so, you haven't been "ripped off" (please note the spelling). No network guarantees 3G reception indoors as the construction of buildings can inhibit the signal. Anyway, it is your responsibility to check that coverage is available in your area, not the network or the salesman. You also have to remember that the salesman is only after your money. If you'd asked him if you got a free fire engine with the phone he'd probably have said yes to that, too.If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

ROB-123, do you have broadband and wifi in your house? If so I would just use that instead as it saves the 'fair use' for when you are out and about.0

I may be wrong, but I'm 99% sure that you get a 14 day cooling off period when entering a mobile phone contract. So you can take it back under your consumer rights. Best to take it in and say you aren't happy and ask to leave the contract.0

You are wrong. It's only for distance sales and it's 7 days - even then provided you haven't used the phone. However, it is definitely worth a trip to the shop. Not all retailers apply the law strictly - though given Vodafone's general attitude to their customers I wouldn't hold your breath!0

Serious question - why do you think that?
A new member states it every single week and it is totally inaccurate.
Where does the myth come from?0 -
I'm sure I heard an advert with 'and if you don't get a signal we'll let you return the phone' but I have no idea who it was with and I don't listen to commercial radio often enough to catch it again. Sure it was Scotland only, and I think it was Carphone Warehouse but might be totally wrong.0

That's a separate issue. Legally you might have a case where the shop advised you at the point of purchase that you would be able to use the phone - that would become a condition of sale. Since that seems to have happened here the OP can make a case that the condition was not met and request a refund/cancellation. Of course, there is the small matter of proof of what was said.0

Proof is the issue. Also if he gets 3G outside the house but not inside could be another aspect.0 -
If you don't get 3g but the 2g signal is fine then there's nothing you can do, Vodafone don't have to make the 3g network available to you, the contract is for calls and SMS, you can do both on 2g0
