it's usually standard over in Northern Ireland that the hotel includes tea and shortbread for guests as they come in to the hotel (all of the hotels we looked at included this free as long as you had over 100 guests)
if anyone else wants anything stronger before the meal they can hit the bar themselves! :rotfl:0 -
oh forgot to add that it comes to £12.50 a head children are £5 but thats unlimited0

That's cheaper than mine! We doing a 3 course carvery + coffee and mints for £25 per head! Our place is being really reasonable with everything so if you don't ask you don't get!0

We had arrivals drinks and I think they were lovely, but then it meant for us that everyone stayed out on the lawns nearby for the photos rather than disappearing off to the bar... I guess it depends on the place that you have your reception, if the drinks were served next to a bar then I doubt we would've bothered, we'd probably have just had drinks tokens for people.Bump due 22nd September0

We are having a drinks package which includes bucks fizz or oj as a welcome drink, half a bottle of wine per person for the meal and glass of bubbly for the toast.0

We were planning to have a welcome drink of bucks fizz, half bottle of wine per person and an open toast. I would feel a bit mean not giving people anything, especially when we saw what it would cost people to actually drink there!!!
Anyway, we then decided to have the wedding abroad and have all inclusive drinks for the night, so problem solved!0 -
We want a welcome drink of some sort and also want canapes. May go for the Pink Champagne and Canopy package which is served in those long champagne flute glasses rather than having them seperate. Its a 4pm wedding with no meal so drink and canapes should set it off nicely, but its down to budget and whatever your happy with.0

Can you take you own wine and pay for corkage at your venue? If so this is a much more cost effective way of doing it. Hotels usually charge a huge mark up on wine so you're looking at paying big bucks for anything decent. This website shows special offers on wine and expert reviews www.supermarketwinereviews.com, so you can get good stuff without paying through the nose
I had a good Cava rather than Champagne for the toast, just as good but for a fraction of the price.0
