If it's any good I collect postcards but not the stamps. Is it best if I donate the full thing or just the stamp? (I've steamed things open (and off) before - but not stamps ;))

    Any advice helps....

I would usually just cut round the stamp, but if you can steam them off without damaging them, that should be fine. Could be worth a try, then you can still hang on to the postcard for your collection.
Whatever you decide to do: thank you :)

I'm pretty sure (I organised a collection once before) that you should leave them on the postcards / envelopes / whatever and leave the franking mark on, otherwise they are worth less.
We were asked to tear round the stamps leaving 1/2 an inch of spare paper.

I guess if the collectors want to steam them off they can do it themselves and are less likely to damage them in the process

Also, I think the more common ones are sold by weight, ie in half kilo / kilo bags, and they are heavier with the paper still on!
