I'm just guessing, but I think that the train OP is getting will be a Trans Pennine Express from Manchester to York before changing to either an East Coast service to Edinburgh, which, guessing from all the times OP has mentioned will get to Waverly at just before 20 to the hour and Haymarket about 5 minutes later.
FYI, National Rail station names lists Edinburgh Waverly as Edinburgh, and Edinburgh Haymarket is simply Haymarket, so I think a ticket to Edinburgh means you're meant to get off at Waverly.0 -
