There are amny, many many things that I do which are less than whiter than white, but fare dodging isn't one of them.
It probably goes back to when I was a sprog and took RailRover type tickets to the absolute limits :j:j0 -
Variant on Murphy's scenario:
You buy a ticket to Cardiff, then fall asleep at Newport. Ticket inspector comes round as you leave Llanelli and says "Sorry, your ticket isn't valid here. I'm afraid I must issue you with a refund of £16."
Dream on!However hard up you are, never accept loans from your friends. Just gifts0 -

Break of journeyYou may not start, break and resume, or end your journey at any intermediate station except to change to/from connecting trains as shown on the ticket(s) or other valid travel itinerary."
Spot on I'm afraid and if you get a proper 'jobsworth' doing a revenue check, you could be reported for fare evasion as a ticket has to be valid for the following specifics; the day, date, train, class, time and place of the journey being made
The argument would be that you used an invalid ticket to gain a pecuniary advantage and thus avoid the correct fare or part thereof.
Mind you, in practice, a good many staff are only human too and would likely turn a blind eye......but there are always some *****0
