Erm yes I think I do. Since I have bought a number of write-offs and brought them back onto the road (albeit all Cat D).
It's amazing what the boys in the old eastern bloc countries can do to change the identity of a vehicle.
My point being we have gone from July to November and the car is still not on the road.
I'm not in any rush. I shall be keeping the car for my own use. I think you're missing the point.0 -
Your joking, right? The insurance company have told you that in the event of a write off claim, they will pay out 20% less than the value of the car. The premium as you say is the same as a car that has not been damaged. I think thats fair enough, don`t you?
I never quite understood why insurers don't like insuring cat c /d vehicles...Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
I don't think 'we' are missing any point. You are the one who is missing the point. As I stated earlier, I have no intention of selling the car, so therefore, depreciation doesn't come into it. It is a convertible, and shall be in the garage for the most of winter anyway. You've a CAT B car in your garage, depreciating even further since July. What point are we missing?0 -

Well, if as you say, you have returned Cat D vehicles back to the road, you will know that they are not subject to a VIC. Are you SURE you know what you're talking about?0 -

... which means you've missed a summer's driving0 -
The car will not be put back on the road. You have spent a fortune trying to do so. CAT B's are not legally able to be resold and you would be breaking the law in doing so.
Unless you get the car regraded to CAT C which you seem to have thrown the toys at doing even though it was likely to work it wont happen.
I can see you "passing" the VIC after lots of effort and costs to be told that as a CAT B it can't be put back on the road afterall. Why is it you think the law is different for you? I suspect DVLA etc are simply happy to take your money and fob you off rather than deal with you but at no point will they allow the car back on the roads and even if they do it will never be able to be sold or MOT'd/taxed etc without as it will be recorded as CAT B.0
