Im glad the real owner got in touch, Im wondering if anyone fell for the scam on ebay before it was pulled!
Well done for all your research, and I'll keep my fingers crossed that the real owner offers you a discount for all your hard work and trouble!:money::beer:0 -
I had another email from the seller telling me that the listing was pulled because (EMAIL QUOTED BELOW)
The listing has been removed because they ask me to pay commision for every booking enquiry. I will not do this because i've paid once to list the villa and anyway the villa is booked for the whole season. I thought that the payment is completed allready. Yes the full amount for 2 weeks is 2400 GBP.E-mail me today with the payment confirmation and your full name and address so i can send you the contract and all the details you need.If you are not contact me today with the payment confirmation i need to let the villa to somebody else
So it seems he is now saying he has let the villa for the whole season.......I hope no one got caught out in this, but he also gave me a name (his own name (?) as opposed to the name of the agent in the uk whose name he gave me before) and I am almost positive that the name was on another listing on a site I came across whilst trawling the net....but try as I might I cannot find it.
Anyway, the real owner has the full details by email now with all the names etc and he is looking to take it further. I have asked him to let me know the outcome but obviously it is now up to him. Because of a certain detail in the ebay ad I suspect it is someone known to the owner but I may never find out if I am right. I suspect he may contact me again to find out where his money is though, and I am not sure what to say, I think I may just say I have changed my mind so as not to alert him to the fact that he has been rumbled.0 -
I am not sure what happened to my text size.0

When you said the real owner was a CEO of a large company, I wondered if it could be a business rival or ex-employee with a grudge trying to make trouble, then I quickly told myself i was getting carried away with conspiracy theories, and needed to calm down:o0 -
I found the link to the other website and lo...another ad for the villa by the same man. The owner is pursuing this, but how far he will get is anyone's guess.0

This scammer is rather persistant, I would have thouht he would be laying low after the ebay listing was pulled, he must have had some bites to want to carry on trying it on with the same villa!
Has he contacted you again about payment? He's not got your address has he? (is the buyers address only disclosed for auctions, not for classifieds?)0 -
No, no more contact as yet. He doesnt have any of my details, not even my usual email address. I was very wary what I gave to him, all contact asdie from one email message, was via ebay messaging.0
