It is a "we'll see". I received that answer a couple of times and then came a decline letter. But last time, I was waiting for the decline letter and received the credit agreement and the card...

Good luck, hope it is the card.
  • Capital one was a decline

This is silly i have one satisfied CCJ that comes off my credit report in five months time.

The rest of my report is full of green zeros and all good.

I met the criteria that Capital One put on its site.

Have just sent appeal letters to Tesco, Capital One and Sygma.

    Not holding my breath though.

Good Luck with the appeals

To be honest the whole credit world is a bit of a guessing game at the moment. For example I got accepted for Capital One :j after a "wait and see" message yet when I applied to Vanquis I got the same "wait and see" but that was 2 weeks ago and I've heard nothing so guessing its a No :o

The first time I applied for Capital One I got a No so it maybe worth you applying again in 6 months time (if you have no success with your appeal).

Ok, yeah, you may get accepted, but when they do their final checks Barclaycard will probably decline the application.

I have a Barclaycard and I'm a discharged bankrupt. If it's not on your credit file (any more) they don't know :o Simples! :D

I did consider it but wanted to play everything straight

That plan got me far didn't it

I just don't get it there are people appying for cards who have only been discharged within a recent period and being accepted.

My BR has now disappeared off my credit file and still i struggle

Unless it is this CCJ issue - £300 odd non paid gas bill - but come January that will be gone

The thing that makes me annoyed with Capital One is about five years ago - whilst the BR was on my credit file - they let me have a classis card with a £200 limit whilst they held a £200 deposit

All run in order phoned them up to cancel and apply for regular classic card and they declined me and have ever since on about four occasions (one a Year)

Although when I got approved for the Barclaycard I'd held an Aqua card for 13 months and Vanquis card for 9 - I think they want to see 12+ months of history on another card.

Give it until the CCJ drops off and I'd then apply for the Barclaycard Initial, reckon it'll be a go'er :o

In regards to my being approved, it's because Equifax broke some address links on my credit file so although I was only discharged a couple of years ago, no one who searches my EQ file can see any of the adverse history - just luck - Experian on the other hand shows warts and all, CML data for repossessed house, six defaults, BR, etc. So no Cap 1 classic for me either!

That wasn't a swipe at you izools re others being accepted
Apologies if it seemed like that

It seems there are many being accepted in worse positions than me

I'm suprised Vanquis threw in the towel and gave me a card last October to be honest my BR was still showing then.

I was worried it was something to do with my address - its a flatted address so it's shown on my Experian credit report in three different formats but they are all on there.

Experian report looks bad for searches because everytime you login to Credit expert it goes down as another search but not a credit one but it just looks silly with 30 searches on it.

And 50 odd linked addresses (only lived in four addresses in the last ten years) Do these ever disapear??

Equifax report looks a lot cleaner still shows CCJ but not all the other Experian rubbish that just clutters your report.

All Experian ever say is "stop worrying a lender cannot see all that info" so why do i need to flipping see it

Don't worry, I didn't think you were having a swipe! Just thought you'd be interested to know the reason for my "luck" ;)

And experian are correct, creditors don't see all that info, but they have to show you, in order to be compliant with the Data Protection Act - they can't hide any data from you.

Equifax just do things slightly differently.

I can't say I know of anyone with a CCJ still showing on their credit file being approved for a Sygma card so don't feel bad about that :o

Yeh only saw that on the Sygma site today about no CCJs but i thought most companies disregarded them after about three years

I met the Capital One Progress criteria though

    Before you apply,
    check you're eligible
We're more likely to accept you if:
    • You're used to managing your credit
    • You're over 18
    • You're on the electoral roll
We're not likely to accept you if:
    • You've had any CCJs or defaults in the last 12 months
    • You've never had credit in the
      UK before
Please note that meeting these criteria
    does not guarantee acceptance

I know its only a loose criteria and there are probably more factors involved.

Are Mastercards harder to get than Visa cards?

It seems like all the sub prime bottom end of the market are Visa
