think you might need to use a bit of brute force, have a look at the link in first post and you will see a pic of how it is fitted to wall, though have you tried trying to find the code by turning the tumblers?
Hi
Thanks for that, ive been having a play with it since we moved in, but have been unsuccessful, however this morning I pushed the little black lever down and it moved the lock a little bit, so I got a screwdriver and pushed the little door down at the same time as pushing the little black lever and hey presto, it opened, I can get it off the wall now.
I dont want to worry people that it can be done with all of them though, as my grandad and great uncle both had these fitted at their houses and there wasn't a gap to get a screwdriver in theirs like there was mine. I think mine had been here a while as it was quiet rusty.0 -
i can open and decode the Master ones inside of 1 min and the fixing are not that strong so can be removed by other methods. if you do get one spend a little more and get one thats up to the job and is also "Sold Secure"

My kids have had their own keys since they started secondary school. They have to let themselves in every day as they are home at 3.15 and we don't get in until 5.30-6.00.0

Gabyjane, i have a pretty good idea from a 5 minute search which town you live in, that gabyjane isn't your real first name (that one was very easy and i know who is actually gaby) i know which two cars can be found on the driveway, your job(s) including hours, and the opposite driveway there's a camper van, that you live in a town house on a new estate and it's painted yellow/gold (?? - memory on that one so i might be wrong but could check!) and to look for a B&Q bunny hutch in the garden. I could delve deeper but hopefully that's enough to ensure you move your key from outside! I don't know your actual address but if i lived locally and knew the area i doubt it would take me very long to establish. Fortunately i'm not a stalker, burglar, axe-murderer or similar and don't live anywhere near your area!!
Let me know if you want me to delete this post ..ive limited what info i have given but it's easily found in minutes!
P.s. cleaner comes on Fridays!0 -

 eek, that's spooky. :eek:0 -
My older sister has one on the side of her house in case of medical emergencies, so that we can gain access if we need to. She is deaf, so sometimes will not hear us if we are ringing the bell. I must say that none of us have ever been concerned about it being there.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
My teenage daughter was forever losing or forgetting her key so I got one of these:-
http://www.keysafe.co.uk/permanent_ge_keysafe_001409eu_8262
It was actually fitted to my father-in-law's house for medical emergencies and I acquired it when he passed away. It has a black rubber cover so it doesn't stand out and I've got it located it between a drain pipe and meter cupboard so it would be virtually impossible to swing at to knock it off. It's also fitted with some pretty hefty bolts so would be difficult to knock off anyway.
The advertising blurb says:-
An opportunist thief is much more likely to shoulder a door or break a window, accessing and leaving the property in a fraction of the time it would take to overcome a KeySafeTM. Please note that we have never been made aware of a property being broken into as a direct result of having a GE KeySafeTM fitted - why bother trying to overcome a GE KeySafeTM when there are clearly much quicker an easier ways of breaking and entering?
It has proved very useful over the years.0 -
Have you ever thought of a no key solution like biometric locks. They cost around £150 upward, unless you find a bargain on ebay at 99p0
-
If you get one of these keysafes, spend the money and get one of the GE ones. A lot of the cheaper ones can be forced in seconds, the wheel based ones decoded in under a minute, and the bad push button ones opened by touch.
If you own enough of worth to be the victim of a targeted burglary, then a keysafe is the ideal "in" for burglars. Once you have keys, you can waltz in and out the front door like you own the place.0 -
Hi thanks for the replies.
Yes i could give her a spare key but thought this was easier..also we have a cleaner who we currently leave the key under the bin..now that is asking for trouble! As for neighbours i only really know/trust a couple and most of them are never here so may not be a good option!
Ill have a think thanks x
Presumably you trust the cleaner to be in your house when you're out so don't you trust him/her enough to give him'/her a key?0
