 and you don't trust your neighbours?

I meant i don't know some of them enough to trust to leave a key to our house and wordly goods no! the ones i do, like i said aren't here a great deal so seems pointless leaving it with someone who wouldn't be in for her to get it.

Asking for trouble is leaving a key under the bin ...and then announcing it on a public forum!!!

I don't get why can your daughter not have a key of her own? Keep on a keyring along with her school locker key. I was entrusted with my own front door key at the same age.

Key safes are only as good as the combination. Good for access to homes for the elderly/disabled (grandparents had one and old lady over the road has one) but can be opened given enough time. I'm not too sure where you would stand on insurance as if there are no signs of forced entry they might not pay out if you were burgled. If you install one it would be better to install it where it is visible..if it's out of view then someone trying to crack the combination has all the time in the world to try and crack it if they can't be seen. However i would entrust your daughter with the responsibility of having her own key.

Hmm the first bit i'm not sure is rellevant..do you know where i live? do you know when my cleaners come? anyway this is the point of my post!

I could give dd a key i just thought this was a safer option incase she does lose it..she is a bit of a scatter brain in the mornings! I agree with the keycode thing and this is why i asked..if someone got the key out surely we wouldn't have a leg to stand on in terms of insurance so was asking to see if anyone has them.

Come across them lots in my job, being a maintenance engineer some places I goto are way out in the sticks, so to avoid going to the offices of the places where im working they often have these key safes on the site where im going.

Instead of that if you dont want to leave keys why dont you get a code lock, they are a reasonable price now, got one on my back door for if ever I forget my keys then I can still get in.

Yeah they are a good idea..we have a pretty new house though so dont really want to go changing locks etc.
    Thanks

    Hi,

why not get a key hook attached to inside of her school bag, with strict instructions to only take it out when arriving home, surely she won't loose her school bag.

My son got a front door key when he started secondary school. He has it on a keyring with his school locker key.

School has a policy where if a locker key is lost, there is a £10 admin charge for a new key. My son has been told if he loses the locker key, he will be responsible for paying the £10.

He's scatty and he has lost other things, but he hasn't managed to lose the keyring yet :D

I might start putting charges on PE kits and stuff :rotfl:
Here I go again on my own....

Not sure :D...but i haven't dug through all your previous posts and photos which might start to build up a picture of your whereabouts! I like a challenge ..is there a prize? :D Hopefully noone can work it out and that your ok to be nonchalant!

Either way remove the key that your leaving outside ASAP...it's not worth the risk whether we can work out via the forum where you live or not!

I've carried a key around for about the last 25 years ..not lost one ..yet (expect i'll lose one now!!). Tell your daughter if she loses the key you will dock her pocket money the cost of a replacement lock...she may be more inclined to look after it if she appreciates there are consequences!

Even if you give daughter a key, you still have the prob of how to let the cleaner in though. Perhaps get a keysafe anyway and only actually leave a key in it on cleaning day.
