Its as good job you're not a proper newbie as you'd probably be accused of spamming the forum if your post count was say below 10:eek:, so you're lucky!
Glad you got you'r "discount".Like the way it started out you needed the cheapest possible choice only to come away with more than you actually wanted to begin with.:rotfl:0 -

Haha i am just looking into taking the plunge and splashing out on an imac... the student discount thing is not a bad deal. the only thing is the cost of it is rising because of the need for software and the warranty... i am not usually a great believer on extended warranty but on this occasion, as i am new to mac systems i think it would be handy (especially at the reduced price).
now the dilemma i have is, ipod nano or ipod touch? i am drawn towards the itouch for wifi access, but find it a bit chunky for music... hmm. at the end of the day they are both luxury items. probably the itouch for it gimmickiness.
also the printer offer is very enticing! apple's marketing is working!!!!
Any tips welcome :A:mad: Hindsight is a wonderful thing...

There are rumours about an Apple event as early as the 16th of August which is, just, in the timeframe for new iPods. New iPods are announced in the autumn every year. If you can wait I would. There are no specific rumours on the nano - though I would gues a fixed camera is likely (but it will almost definitely be !!!!) but some very interesting rumours on the iPod touch. It will almost definitely include a camera, which may be OK - if I were to bet I'd say maybe like the iPhone 3GS, which is 3MP, so good enough for Facebook snaps etc. But the rumours say it may also have a front-facing camera, allowing FaceTime (video chat), like an iPhone 4. I would say that without question it's worth waiting for, but with Apple you just never know. Last year the pundits were convinced that the iPod touch would get a camera, and it didn't.
The printers you can get for free are all degrees of wretched. If you go wireless, be prepared to sepnd hours trying to get it to work. HP's wireless hardware is basically just really cheap and nasty. Canon's is robust but not at all intuitive to set up. I boycotted Epson because their software was so awful, but I would imagine it's improved: it couldn't be worse.0 -
Skintdragon, Buy the Mac and then look on Ebay for Applecare warranty. Got one for my Macbook for just under £50 and it worked fine, £199 from Apple! Make sure it is a sealed pack to be posted to you as I have heard of some problems with the electronic code transfer deals. You must register for the extended warranty before the Mac is a year old.0

Wow that is interesting information. Thanks for the heads up. Saying that though, I do take quite alot of random photos (photography hobby) and whilst my DSLR is not very portable, i do find the one on my phone really good (8 MP; sony ericsson). for that reason, the camera aspect from Apple is not really a selling point for me. That is also one of the reasons why I have not really expressed an interest in the iPhone. They are lovely pieces of kit, but I would not get much use out of it. More importantly, the long contracts put me off a bit, and for that reason I am prepared to settle for the low spec iTouch. Music and wireless internet access is all i would require. everything else is just an added bonus! I suspect the reason Apple are doing the rebate deal on iPods (and printers) is because they are wanting to rid stock. I'm going to get £130 back on rebate, so essentially the 8gb iTouch is costing me £22.

Uh oh that's scary; I ordered a Epsom printer as part of the rebate package deal! Yes it's wireless. I will try it out, and if it fails to work I can always flog it! I am a sucker for these rebate deals! ARGH!! MoneySaving indeed!!!!!
Thanks for the information though; it's made for a really thought- provoking read.:mad: Hindsight is a wonderful thing...

Yes a few people have recommended the extended warranty. I have bagged it for a good deal through Apple for under £50 as I am still studying. Whoop! :money:
