Maybe Gmail is okay then, but I don't want my friend to get involved in such as http://www.google.co.uk/support/forum/p/gmail/thread?tid=5350dbdba3d9f19a&hl=en else I will be getting called all the time!
Anyway it seems like several folks say Gmail is okay, so maybe I'll try it - Thanx0 -
GMail via POP3 is rock solid in my experience. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

5 gmail accounts here, and never a problem, using either POP or IMAP.
One thing to be aware of is that gmail allows you to send up to 25MB as an attachment, this is generally much larger than the majority of other accounts can handle.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
Sorry, yes, I've got POP3 free with Yahoo, but that's cos I've been with them for ages. You need Yahoo Plus if you're a new customer.
GMail is good, but it has been down a couple of times within the last year. I can live with that.0 -
O2 do free POP3, all you need is a mobile any network to verify your account. https://registration.o2.co.uk/Register/PreRegister. Been great for me, you can also create other accounts as long as you have a different mobile number, but you can link accounts if you wish.A fool and their money are easily parted.0

Yahoo do give free pop access if you change your country to outside UK/USA and Canada.
I use the home of the All Blacks & a certain egg shaped fruit as my home country and get free POP/SMTP Access.
Saying that GMail IMAP is best. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
