what does she want BB for ?

I was with Tesco BB for years, and it's great for browsing, MSN etc, and relatively cheap, I only changed because my teenagers wanted faster and higher for online gaming, and somehow I cannot see your granny on COD 5 24/7 :rotfl:

Think is was around £12 a month then.

    Try

Tesco Broadband ,Phone Line Rental, and Inclusive E&W calls is only £19 a month.Free connection. (18 month contract)
Subject to availabilty in her area.

  • It depends on the area, I live in a small village with a pre-historic exchange and have contacted several suppliers but they all have an additional charge for this area - we ended up going with the sky package as we already had the tv package and managed to negotiate a 6 month half price on tv, phone and broadband when we spoke to the cancellations team.

You can check what broadband is actually available at a specific exchange here.

  • Dizzyblonde has hit the nail on the head, its the exchange thats at fault and tesco isnt even supported on that exchange so their out, my biggest gripe is sky if they cant include the 10% of exchanges that have not been updated yet with the free bb then its a joke ive roughly esatmated theres a 100 people in this situation 5056 exchanges 10% not on sky etc, roughly 500 exhcanges 10%-20% (generous) wanting sky on those exchanges roughly 100 peeps she would have taken line rental and calls etc an extra 10p to all sky customers would easily cover this if they cant already another poor show by sky......:mad::mad: (and the rest of them), so if any1 knows of a provider of any sort thats cheapish would appreciate the info............:rotfl::rotfl:
at the min plusnet £24 with calls and line rental best and a 30 day rolling contract.............

if any1s interested i get my exchange info from samknows google it cant add a link

yep know about them allready, the issue is they all add a charge which talk talk call a chargable capacity or something like that and altho i currently dont have this issue (im waiting for the bt cable/fibre optic upgrades) i feel as a lot of people are being ripped of and duped espesh by sky who can easily cover their costs and just make it a blanket policy this was 1 of the reasons she took out sky in the first place it is a con and shouldnt be allowed we all should be able to at least get the same deal (diff speeds accepted) as any1 else in the country... and or if the exchange isnt to scratch why is the line rental the same as mine for eg its like kia and rolls royce selling their cars for the same price but because i live @no.1 not no.7 i must buy a kia its wrong and not the consumers fualt the equipement isnt up to scratch.

writing quick spellin not to scratch lol

TT is the only LLU provider on that exchange, why did she cancel expecting 'free' Sky (which is anyway only a pitiful 2GB capped service) without first checking if that exchange was LLU for Sky or not?
TT cannot be anything like £33 a month if available LLU, it should be £18.48 with the basic phone package on Essentials.
The Sky surcharge is not hidden, it's clearly stated on their website, and if you put your number into the checker then it should tell you the price on your exchange.
PS: where did you get the statistic that Sky have LLU'd 90% of the 5,600 exchanges in the UK? Dream on.

If you really expect Murdoch to subsidise your connection because you live on a rural/non-LLU, exchange then you are living in a fool's paradise. It's a business, not a charity.
I got the impression that you were the one that was whinging?

got to love the figures branded about
    FYI
    Provider nameSky / EasynetExchangesEnabled 1,190 | Pending 0

There are nearly 5600 telephone exchanges in the UK

and as ever with advertising you really should look at the small print, you will find that it will state that you have to live within the Sky broadband enabled area to get the free offer

anyways i would probably suggest also looking into Plusnet since they are pretty cheap usually - once again check with the website to find out what you can get

also remember to check quidco out for cashback deals when ordering
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

I can only imagine that the OP has seen a claim by Sky that their LLU coverage is 90% of the population (not quite the same thing as 90% of UK exchanges).
