Off to get the sticky.......................

Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Sun 18thJuly. 2010. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
[*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just fine

Good Morning - where are you all?

Have woken today to lovely sunshine - looks like another beautiful day. Had a nice day yesterday pottering around the house.

Today have DS' football presentation which this year is being held in a local indian restaurant where they have a Sunday buffet, its a good price for adults and kids are free. OH's not coming as he is doing a bootsale and hopefully getting rid of the last of our clutter:j

So no major cooking for me today, plans are more washing, menu plan for next week & chill.

Thats it for me, hope you are all well ((((hugs))) wherever needed.x

Good Morning Essex girl and all who follow, its a beautiful morning in Kent as well. I can see the sun shining on the River Medway from my study window, and it looks as though its going to be another sunny day.I have just had breakfast and am about to get myself sorted out for the day.i have to drop my DGD off at the dockyard as she is working today and then I am off to Dartford to see my friend and pick up my curtains that she has shortened for me.I will have a light lunch with her and we will probably do some craft making cards this morning .most of my Christmas cards are made already.back home this afternoon then off to my Dd's for Dinner around five and see my DGC.So my Sunday is mapped out for me already. i hope everyone has a nice day and gets done all they want to.
    Cheers JackieO xx

    Morning All,

Only get chance to post on here in the hols these days but I try to read most days. Where is everyone, I know there are normally lots of posts by now.

Is it just me is a lot more old style when I am on holiday! Anyway 5 glorious weeks off now so will be able to do lots of cooking from scratch.

Its pouring in Manchester this morning so will be pottering and cooking biscuits. Also want to watch the last round of the open this afternoon. Might not even change out of my PJ's how naughty is that:o

Had DGS last night so he had me awake at 6.30 although he did go down at 7 last night so I am not comlaining. Mum and dad picking him up about ten so I think a snooze later on is a must

He is just eating his banana and yoghurt for brekkie so I think I better go and fetch the baby wipes, mor on him than in him:rotfl:

Off to wake DH and then brekkie for us.

Have a good day peeps x

Good morning, I still have to write my year six's leaving service script, and hopefully think up some kind of final celebration, although they're going on the "whole school trip" on Thursday, would you parents of Y6s think that would be good enough this year?

In the home, I had to dig my way through the emptied out contents of a set of cupboards this morning in the kitchen, and felt I'd earned my whoopsed croissants and "company shop" M&S strawberry conserve, and Dolce Gusto coffee (- company online shop). Snuggled up with the hounds and started to re-read "Mr. Thrifty's how to save money on absolutely everything."*

Emptied cupboards? OH preparing to put in the E-Bay gas hob as part of our phased kitchen conversion (1 year so far, and counting).

We've been puzzling about how to heat under the two computer desks and * Mr. Th's G. suggests a particular slimline heater from Screwfix direct 3p per hour to run (at time of writing in 2003) any suggestions?
Whatever we do heat wise, and we really must cut back this year, the space under our desks is frozen. I use an old sleeping bag to sit in, but OH is unable to do that, and wears thermal long johns, but still chills off after a time, it also affects our hands.

I've done an audit, and we're stocked up on most stuff, but there's always something we forget. Toilet rolls need a top up, ... this is because we are now having to slash spending as OH only has work for two more weeks. My job is OK so far, but I work at a small school which is constantly reviewed for closure by the Local Education Authority, and I guess it will come up again with the new wave of cutbacks.
    Good morning anyway.

Looks sunny outside today so hopefully a nice day.

We are going to the Malton Agricultural Show today so hopefully a grand day out! :j

Not very MS as Partner is going to buy us lunch there. Because his ex-wife was a money-grabber, etc he insists that we keep our own accounts, no joint accounts, never the money-twain shall meet, etc. so if he is buying lunch then I am saving money and getting lunch for free! :D

Because I'll be out all day I won't really get the chance to do any housework but am going to HAVE to run the hoover around as soon as we get back - it's screaming for it!

Hope you all have a great day and hugs to all that need it.

    Morning everyone.

Not sunny here but looks as though it's trying to brighten up.
Off swimming with the kids. We normally take turns doing laps whilst the other minds the kids but not feeling up to that. Have definately lost my mojo at mo :( not good really especially when I have environmental health coming tomorrow eek!!!!!
So housework and ironing are on the cards today.
Tea will be chicken and veg.

Hugs to those who need them. Have a good Sunday os or not.

Julie - if parents have to pay for all these celebrations then surely one main trip will suit most purses given most peoples lack of funds.

    Morning

Just draining my first coffee and starting to feel more human.

DS1 cleaned all downstairs yesterday while I was out working - he is a good lad and I'm very grateful for his help. I've struggled over the last year to keep up - working exhausts me and as thats a priority everything else has slipped a bit but he has picked up the slack.

I'm at the doctors tomorrow for my test results so slightly nervous but hopefully they might be able to tell me whats wrong - or at least what it isnt!

Have one report to do tthis morning from my MSing yesterday and I have three shops to do later this afternoon,...2 more food halls :D and a toy shop (stashing the toys for xmas).

Back at work tomorrow after my week off but only for two days then I'm off again as its the boys 18th on Wednesday :D

Right best crack on, Enjoy your day OS or not! x

    Morning all

It's windy and damp here :( but i'm kinda glad cos I need to work on my presentation for my interview so at least I won't feel bad for missing out on the sunshine.

I'm allowing myself an hour to go shopping this afternoon. Today I need to get some new black trousers for my interview if possible. I have a pair which fit but they are 5 years old so I'd like a new pair. But I'm 6ft tall and size 18/20 so struggle! I'm going to try Dorothy Perkins tall range. I got a top yesterday. It's a sheer grey floaty ruffley top (really hard to describe! :rotfl:). It is smart but comfy and best of all it was only £10 in the sale :D I'll need to wear a nude vest underneath but I have one of those already.

There won't be much OS ness going on here. I do need to wash towels but I may leave til tomorrow as they won't dry outside today. DW will go on tonight. Meals will be eggs on toast for breakfast, rolls for lunch and HM OS freezer meal for tea, probably a curry.

    Have a fab Sunday

    Morning all,

Looks bright and beautiful here for the moment, but who knows what may happen later on, I have out bedding in the wm, so hope it stays dry for a while, I also need to do dd's uniform, including the blazer, as it has yogurt all down it.

DD came home from her sleepover absolutly shattered, they had slept in a tent, and the wind was howling all night, so she hardly got any sleep, she was very grumpy and starving, I had told the mum dd was veggie, and she said she would get veggie burgers in for her, but she forgot, so dd ended up having toast for her dinner, which just is not enough, anyway I gave her a good feed, and then she took herself off for an afternoon nap :rotfl:, I have never known her do that, she must have been shattered :D

Yesterday OH and I went to an indoor market, its a huge one, and I love it there, lots of old fashioned stalls, the egg man is my favourite, he has a little jack russell who sits on a cushion on the stall, and when you go to buy your eggs he sits up and begs, very cute :T, I got 6 duck eggs for £1.50 and six hen eggs £1.20, he did not have goose eggs this time, but they were delish last time.

I also bought a vintage satin eiderdown for £20 its absolutly beautiful, and will go lovely in dd's room, but is smells a bit musty, I have it airing on the line, any other ideas how I can get the smell out ??

Dinner today will be the rest of the gamon which I cooked yesterday, it was delish, might do OH some mash with his, dd is off with her dad they will have lunch out, and never wants much for dinner when she gets back so a sandwich will do her.

OH and I will do the ceiling in the spare room today, it needs sanding, and filling in a few spots, ready for painting, hopefully tomorrow :T

Tappers, are you still going to see the puppy today ? let us know how you get on xx

    Have good days all xx
