Quite a valid point... my 3gs is nowhere near as good as my previous phone for reception

Are you with the same network as before the 3gs?

If so, what is the difference?

    Thanks.

Well valid as in, it seems the time has already come for apple to become a victim of their own success (iirc that is what brought Nokia down) pumping out rubbish onto the market and think people will easily accept their shortcomings and at a premium too.
I remember folk slagging off the htc legend due to the chassis and possible reception issues, and some other manufacturers are using lines like "you can hold our handset anyway you wish"
I hope for the sake of you apple fanboys, this issue get resolved once and for all soon as the line between being cool and being a fool is very thin, and iphone owners will appear little more than a laughing stock and subject for ridicule
News travels fast on the internet, and a large fan base could quickly diminish, just as the value of the apple share price.

Whilst the post sounds quite bitter towards Apple and Apple owners for some reason, it is a valid point that mobile companies have a history of standing on their own toes. Sony Ericsson were excellent but had issues and only now are getting back on their feet. With Android now being used by Samsung and Sony as well as HTC it is big competition in market share for Apple esp in the USA where iPhones aren't on every network. With Win Mobile 7 coming out too this is a headache Apple could have done without in all honesty.
  • If you don't want an iPhone, don't buy it (clicky)

Woops , sorry it does seem that way initially, but at least you cottoned on to the main pointers in the post, no Im not bitter against apple or their users, some thread types to get my back up from time to time, eg whats the text number for the iphone to retrieve minutes and texts balances? and the answer is the same as any other phone on the O2 network :o
Indeed I don't have an iphone , but it's not for sake of not being able to afford one, the ip4 is only just about a worthy replacement for a Sony K850i, for real everyday use, but with the fuss about the reception n stuff, Im starting to feel sorry for those that rushed out and possibly queued up to get their hands on what is growing to appear like a white elephant :o

Oh come off it! I don't have an iPhone (as I've mentioned in several posts on this forum already) and I've been following the launch of the iPhone 4 with interest. I've also been watching the fallout that has been called "antennagate" in some of the gutter press.

I'm able to replicate the "death grip" with my XDA and it's been demonstrated (and not denied) that all smartphones have similar issues if you touch or cover their antenna.

The whole antenna issue has been blown out of all proportion and what you think appears to be a white elephant is actually the fastest selling smartphone. I can't see HTC offering to spend an estimated $180m (according to the BBC) on freebees for their customers.
