I was asking about the ip3gs, not the ip4.
I know you were, I was hoping to get the next gen of ipod touch , but I am worried that it ma just be a pile of sh1te, and I should just stick with considering an ipod nano and contnue using my palm tungsten.
But if the 3gs was suffering the problems, you would have known about it long ago, so I feel it is safe to say it does not suffer those problems.0 -

That is enough to put me off ip3gs.0 -
This is my experience as well. On my train to work, 3GS next to Desire, both same network. I can make calls and connect to the Internet on the Desire but the 3GS shows no service.
Thats good to hear about the Desire signal as I have just listed my 3gs for sale and have ordered a desire0 -

I wouldn't bother personally.0 -
Either.
Don't buy anything apple.
Take a look at what consumer reports say about mp3 players including reviews by clicking here.
Alternatives to apple products can also be found here.0 -

I'm able to replicate the "death grip" with my XDA and it's been demonstrated (and not denied) that all smartphones have similar issues if you touch or cover their antenna.
The whole antenna issue has been blown out of all proportion and what you think appears to be a white elephant is actually the fastest selling smartphone. I can't see HTC offering to spend an estimated $180m (according to the BBC) on freebees for their customers.
The reception on other phones is only affected when you physically cover the antenna. No one to my knowledge has been able to get the phone to loose 20dB or more by using a single finger on any phone other than the iPhone 4. Only the cases on the iPhone 4 can mysteriously 'fix' this problem by a case, which doesn't stop the hand getting in the way of the antenna but rather it stops the electrical problems that the antenna has.
So no, I'm not buying Steve's "pet theory" on why the 3GS isn't dropping so many calls is down to the case.
Yes, I can get my desire (and any other phone I've had before) to loose ~3dB by holding the phone fairly naturally, yes that will occasionally translate into a bar. I would hazard a guess that covering the phone in cello-tape or with a rubber band would not change that though.0
