  • O2 are trying to charge me £15 a month for this iphone4 insurance ? Whats the differnec between this and house Insurance? I broke my last Iphone and was charged £200 for my new iphone because I didnt have Insurance, they stated that because I dropped it, it was my fault even though I was still in contract.
  • Found out house insurance does cover iphone4 £50 excess don't know if I should risk it or not, would the house insurance cover it if the phone went faulty in its 2nd year (not covered by apple)

    Hi there

No - Insurance is for "loss or damage". It's not a warranty.

One thing to remember about phone insurance is that it is often a "dual" cover. This means that it's covering something that's insured elsewhere already (such as on home or travel insurance). If drop your phone off the side of a boat and claim on your mobile insurance, they are legally and contractually entitled to get a contribution towards the costs from the other insurers. You don't see this because it all happens in the background.

In addition, what's the point in paying for 2 lots of insurance?
In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move.

I've got mine through my Lloyds TSB bank account, £6.95 per month and they day I'd have a new phone in 3 working days if I ever need to claim

Exactly the same as I have and it took over a month and i got cash settlement of £490.

I paid £30 excess and 11.00 sending my damaged iphone to them which they sent back intially.

They are lying they take upt to 10 working days to process each stage. It took 9 working days after i agreed the cash settlement for it to be in my lloyds acc.

Mmnnn! I'm not best pleased with Lloyds Mobile Insurance. I dropped my iphone from my pocket while riding a horse, and watched it bounce down the tarmac! :-( First they had to send me a form, which I filled in with proof of purchase and sent back to have 'claim' approved. Then, once had written to me to approved the claim, I had to send off phone with £30 excess for repair / replacement. Got it back yesterday after 3 and a half weeks only to find that the rear casing was still bashed in and cracked, and more so than when I sent it them (??) although the front had been replaced and it was working! So a phone call later and Lloyds are sending me a freepost speacial delivery envelope so I can send it off again! They promise me a 3 day turn around this time but I remain cynical and unhappy. You get so used to having email at your fingertips!

Not exactly what I had expected in terms of timings and service ....!

Exactly what happened to me except they left my iphone switched on in the box the returned it in with a note stating it would need to be charged!!

After going mad they promised a replacement if i sent my phone back.

They didnt and cash settled after weeks of me ringing and moaning.

Nothing will cover you for a faulty phone in the 2nd year, that's just a risk you take when buying any electronic product.
I saw this posted elsewhere maybe it is of use
    EU Directive 1999/44/EC.

Page 7 of this booklet explains. http://ec.europa.eu/publications/booklets/move/64/en.pdf

basically if Vodafone refuse to accept the returns under the Sale Of Goods Act, then I will produce this nugget and point out it's within two years.

If the phone is sold with a two year contract, then the phone should last two years, simple as that.

Since posting this I have spoken with Vodafone and apple covers the 1st year and they said vodafone covers the 2nd year, now I know that house insurance covers it (AXA Insurnce) I may just now bother taking out insurance as whats the point! not very money sensible is it

Despite lloyds being painful I did get £490 when the iphone fell out of my pocket when I pay £6.95 a month for that and aa.

I think that makes its cost effective just stressful.
