When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :D:D

Morning DFWers! was up with the larks! finally gave up trying to get back to sleep at 6.30  that's what you get for having a job where u have to get up at 6am!

Happy weekend everyone - so nice to just do things at a slower pace :D

so this weekend I intend to:
  • [STRIKE]weekly meal plan[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]shopping[/STRIKE] OMG spent £76.38  however got lots of bits reduced (mainly veg but some meat) bogof (2x ground coffee £3.56 or 4x for £4 etc in Lidl) on loads of stuff I use throught the month (new things added to list see below 2 points)
  • [STRIKE]update sig[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]chop veg & freeze[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]make pot & leek soup with reduced veg and find some space in the freezer for it fo lunches next week ;)[/STRIKE] I should have done it on the night I got it :( that's 10p down the drain literally...
  • gi[STRIKE]ve chicken risotto a bash (never made before) with reduced veg, leftover chicken that I froze on wed as I realised it wasn't going to be eaten ;)[/STRIKE] omg so good :T
  • [STRIKE]make banana bread[/STRIKE]
  • make hob nobs no golden syrup...
  • hm bread - going to try a recipe other that "bog standard"! postpone this because have things that need to be eaten up in the next 2 days and don't want to divert ppl attention from them ;)
  • play tennis with oh
  • [STRIKE]go for a walk[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]visit ex-mil[/STRIKE]
  • meet up with best friend who is done from london for a coffee :D
  • [STRIKE]make the most of being on call so cannot go out and spend money ;)[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]hc & line dry[/STRIKE]
  • make pizza bases & freeze for quick meals in the week ;)have to postpone this until mid week as freezer is too full!
  • [STRIKE]contact another friend & make a plan to get together next week (free mins)[/STRIKE] meeting tomorrow for coffee :D
  • convince oh to do some touch ups in the hallway with me(emollusion touch ups on wall/clean banisters)
  • have a NSD didn't make this
I think that's it! I may list a couple of things on ebay but just as likely won't! Have a great weekend x

Know what you mean fay, my DD has only been away a week and is coming home tomorrow but miss her like mad! Don't know what to do with myself!

    Today I might...:
    - [STRIKE]Check banking / CC's[/STRIKE]
    - [STRIKE]Might gander to the shops to buy upstand[/STRIKE] to finish off kitchen - bought it, end bits currently sticking in place, will leave overnight to dry, dont have straight walls here so lots of pressure applied!
    - Might look at paints in Homebase to decorate DD's bedroom, it's still babyish and she's 2 1/2 now and more like a teenager
    - [STRIKE]Might meet friend for cuppa later[/STRIKE]
    - Catch up with friends on FB
    - Shower and get dressed in a minute
    - Tidy garden, take males off courgette plants, try to reattach roses to front porch after the wind tore them off
    - Going out with friend later into town for a few bevvy's. Should be fun!

    Jx
Nothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!

Morning all. Feeling low today so not sure yet how the day will go.

I came home from work yesterday with a gap of 45 minutes to get showered, changed and ready to go out with DH. (Work had paid for us all to go to a picnic/concert) When I walked in the door I nearly cried - DH had done NOTHING all day, the house was an absolute tip and hadn't even started to get ready to go out. I feel like going out for the day and leaving him to it, but I know it'll be the same, or probably worse, when I get home. Ah well, such is life...:(

    So far today:
    • checked banking - still no PPI payment
    • checked for surveys
    • fed the chickens and let them out to play
    • paid CC bill
    • deliberated on my day ahead
    I expect I will also:
    • have an NSD (Debt payments don't count!)
    • bake some biscuits and bread
    • go to allotment to continue weeding
    Oh, and:
    • blitz the house

    - might do a quick clean up of house, then again, I might not
    - if I get time, I might work on my craft project
    - sort out paperwork needed to reclaim back some costs, which hopefully I can do monday
  • Fay (welcome back have missed ur impossibly long lists :D) & josie

I have long known that I am the founding member of the bad mother's club :o but I feel exactly the opposite when my two aren't around. Guess it comes with having a rough time through their teens - but its bliss for me when they are staying away :o:rotfl:

Stitching - poor show! Best you sit him down and have a "chat" today x

  • Hey DNM waves back - I do subscribe to the bad mothers club too - but 42 days of kids away is a bit random - my pal came with her three boys (two teenagers) and my word the rate at which one of them is always on his mobile texting - I'd be driven demented.

My list isnt too bad today :) honest

Just slowly getting back into the swing of things

Banks checked and not too scary - must pay more off CC's - need another cuppa first though

    Hi everyone. Today I:
    1) Walked to the shopping centre to collect free Toy Story lego.
    2) Got bus back and discovered that T was free as they have changed the threshold to 7. Yay!
    3) Bought deodorant for OH using Boots points.
    4) Bought a lovely shirt for T from the charity shop.
    5) Got some books out of the library.
    6) Went to Adventure Wonderland using our season ticket. The Mad Hatter was having a tea party so T got lots of free sarnies and cake.
    7) Bought whoopsied salads at the supermarket for dinner.
    8) Won a scout leader shirt on ebay for B, for £5.50. The local shop are charging more than £25 for a shirt! I'm baulking at paying £5.50 let alone £25!

Wine and a DVD tonight - Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Hope you all have a funky night whether you are off down the disco or cosying up at home, L x
