Just a polite reminder that the alerts thread is intended to let people know of new large scale job uploads.

It is annoying to get an alert and drop everything to check, only to discover it's a single released job. Especially a crappy re one which nobody wants anyway ;)

  • For Gap? I haven't tried, I think I read that someone else did and got paid, but I'm too wary of Gap to try!

I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!

I did a dine-in once, and we ordered Nachos as a starter, then realised they weren't on the "allowed" list, so we ordered a dessert which was - and they paid up. So you should be fine.

No disrespect, and fair do's to those who don't like it, but it doesn't say anywhere on the alerts thread not to post single jobs, and how do you know it was a job no body wanted.
At the moment, to be told of ANY available jobs, whether it be a block of them or a single, can be a blessing in disguise, despite who the job is for, as there are a lot of people looking for work, have lack of work, or wanted the jobs in the first place and missed them. So as much as some may hate 'dropping everything to look at crappy jobs', some of us may find it a lot of help.

Not in so many words, but anyone with an iota of common sense would take it as read from the following:

This thread is as much about helping others as being helped, so as soon as you notice a new block of assignments be released, please remember to update this thread!

The Alerts thread has thousands of views, many, many of us have email alerts to let us know when new jobs are released, and the aim of the thread when Timne first set it up was for it to be used for NEW BATCHES of jobs, not single released ones.

If I were to release a job, I would just post it on this thread not the alerts as it would annoy people who did not live in my area, and I would be annoyed if someone posted an alert for a single job they had released say somewhere in London.

That was a really polite reminder wasn't it? A bit like when people say ''I'm not being funny but'' and you instantly know they are. So sorry for the huge inconvenience checking it must have caused you.

No, sorry but I disagree with you. People receive email alerts when someone posts on the alert threads. It is an inconvienence to log in to MSE only to find someone is just posting to say they have released a job. Released jobs can be mentioned in the main thread. The alerts thread has always been for jobs released in more than one area.

Good for you! You obviously have the common sense I so clearly lack.

Just a polite reminder, some people on here are new to all this, and will slip up along the way as all of you no doubt did at some point. I apologise wholeheartedly for causing such great inconvenience by thinking perhaps I was doing someone a favour.

Yes, this thread is very useful, but is there any need for it to be quite so clique and elitist?
