It's been pretty laid back of late actually and a lot less cliquey than it has been previously.0 -
Oh yes, and you're all clearly so busy (hence the irritation at the interruption from the alert thread) you have the time to debate over an issue that small.
Like I said, thank you to those for pointing out my obvious stupidity. I have learned my lesson. I will think twice before doing something with the best of intentions. Stupid, stupid me and well done to you all for talking to me like a silly little girl, hope it's brightened up your day.0 -

Just a polite reminder, some people on here are new to all this, and will slip up along the way as all of you no doubt did at some point. I apologise wholeheartedly for causing such great inconvenience by thinking perhaps I was doing someone a favour.

No love, I'm not having a go at you. I got a rollocking once for doing it too. No one is against you. I didn't mean to sound horrible. If I did, I am sorry.0 -

You reckon? Maybe our definition of ''clique'' is different. I just think it's unpleasant. The only time many have responded to any of my posts is to ask where I'm located. Interesting.0 -
I've done work for Douglas Stafford but you're probably talking about video MSing aren't you?
I've only done phone calls and they were a right pain and paid a pittance - yes folks, less than half a minimum RE fee. Or to put it another way - half the fee of a burger. With no burger!0 -
Has anyone done recorded calls for Measure?
They are saying that it is possible to do not just UK calls but US calls as well. It sounds as if there is no call cost (the Measure recording system calls the assessor). Or am I wrong?0 -
I just want to say a big THANK YOU to those that regularly send alerts. They are doing a great service for all of us, I have only once managed to reciprocate.0

If I were to release a job, I would just post it on this thread not the alerts as it would annoy people who did not live in my area, and I would be annoyed if someone posted an alert for a single job they had released say somewhere in London.
If that is the case, then a note should be added to the first post of the threads stating so. It does say about posting blocks of assignments, but does not say anything about single assignments.
Also if I remember correctly, people have been 'politely reminded' for posting jobs on the normal thread, just as they get told about chatting on the jobs thread. New people joining the thread see that there is an alert thread, and so rightly post things on there thinking they are being helpful. But if there is nothing to say please do not post single jobs on there, put them on the normal thread, then new people will continue to post single jobs, thinking they are being helpful to everyone else.0 -

Wow you really are taking all of this to heart!
Please take this as friendly advice (and this is meant to be exactly that, not a cover up for unfriendly advice!) but no-one specifically called you out. I think a few of us have noticed that people recently have started posting about individual jobs, it hasn't just been you. We all use this thread to share information and get advice and if it wasn't for the seasoned mystery shoppers on here the whole thread just wouldn't work.
When someone makes a suggestion and explains the reasons behind it, like the fact that individual jobs posted on the alert thread don't benefit the 99% of other people on here it's not that we're chastising you like a child, it's that we're trying to help and make this thread (and the alerts thread) work better.
Also people asking where you're based isn't always a bad thing, and if you'd read all the replies after where facebook and sharing dropped jobs around was discussed you would see why it's useful to know shoppers in your area. I know a few shoppers by me and I always make a point of contacting them directly if I'm about to drop a job that they might be interested in, I know they would do the same for me. Generally with the fastest finger companies it doesn't matter if you know your "competition" as it's all up to chance and who gets there first anyway.
I hope this doesn't put you off coming back, but you need to remember that if you're gracious and polite people are more likely to help you. Catching more flies with honey and all that business.0 -

Think I remember posting a very similar response when I first joined and had inadvertently posted a daft question. Got over it as I realised its very easy to read meaning into words that wasn't intended. Took me a while for my indignant huff to disappear, but decided to stay and glad I did as the advice and helpfulness on here and the alerts thread is generally great
I think that recently, there have been a lot of single job alerts going onto the alert thread, particularly for RE and it is a bit annoying to receive alerts for these. I personally, would be happy to see the end of RE alerts full stop, as I never see the jobs
Maybe you were just the 'last straw' as it was. Don't take it personally!!!!January 2012 GC £296.96/£3000
