Please can someone recommend a good stopwatch that they use for fast food restaurants?

I recall Gap emailing ages ago to say they were sending a stop watch/timer thing to me. It never arrived. :(

I got one of them from GAP, it looked like a cheap childs toy mobile phone (you know like the ones out of the 99p shop!!) and would only do 2 splits which I know is all that you need in theory for them but I like to be able to do more if I want to, ie the first timing point was 5 minutes after I joined the queue but it took me 4 minutes 29 seconds to get to the till area.
  • Forgot to say, I'd only done one job for GAP.

It appears there is no reason as to why people are sacked by Gap and it is more than likely nothing you have done wrong it is just some silly thing at their end.

Much as they do give an oppertunity for a bit of income I would not worry to much about not working for them as there is plenty of work from the other MS companies around.

Oh and my Gap money is now showing as being paid yesterday. Just my bank being a bit slow to show things!

:(- charming, GAP have got rid of me, I'd only done one assignment, Not sure it's worth doing it if there's no GAP jobs, I'm gutted!

I honestly can't think what I did wrong, although I think my second timing may have been a few seconds out as I struggled to reset my timer. I've done 2 for react now and got one 9/10 and one 10/10, so surely I can't be that bad! I can't even email as they've deleted my account!

Oh well, I'll sign up with a few more perhaps, then may look into doing some phone work. Does anyone else think it's worth doing without GAP jobs? I'm in SE London/ NW Kent area.

Seriously.....if you relied on gap for jobs then you haven't signed up to enough companies. No one should ever need to consider stopping MSing if gap sack them, it happens all the time!

Most people here are signed up to 15+ companies and will search around and pick up the ones they can do. It's not a good idea to rely too much on one company, spread yourself out a bit.
  • Hey

Just wondering if there's anyone from the Wigan/StHelens area on here?

I've only just started doing this, so it's not that I relied on GAP as such, just that they seemed to have a lot of very local jobs that would have been really easy to fit it around shopping trips./ the kids etc (I've got 6 of the little bleeders ;)) I have signed up to quite a few others (about 8 I think), and have a couple of jobs lined up as well as two I've done already, so I'll see how it goes from there I suppose.

I've got my first RE job today, an underground sandwich one, paranoid now though!! Any tips?

Feel slightly better knowing that I'm not the only one to be fired by GAP :D

I'm not from there, but occasionally do work there as DH works near Wigan :)
